I'm just sad the public school system failed him so badly.
My favorite moment in this ep?
Jim and the blow-up doll. Hands down.
"She's European...."
We need another Todd Packer ep before the end of the season!!
I think the best part of this ep is when Packer says
"...so, he's NAILING his secretary...."
and the camera cuts to Pam, who looks mortified.
I'm guessing she was visualizing, for a moment, being nailed by Michael. LOL.
When Michael, Kevin, and the warehouse guys are watching the Sexual Harassment video, Darryl says, "Oh, hey, stop the video..." Then, he proceeds to tell the group that he banged the girl shown in the video. I noticed that he didn't recognize her until she opened her mouth in an "ohh" expression. That's probably the way he remembers her looking when they had their "encounter".
I took that scene as being on par and quite suggestive, though subtle, considering that this was an episode about sex issues in the workplace. Or, maybe it's just my dirty mind. : o
According to the NBC site for the show, they will be re-running this episode on the 25th during the normal time slot and the Haloween episode will be shown an hour before that-so 2 episodes in 1 night (with maybe My Name is Earl in the middle?)
Denise
I'm so thrilled they're re-running this one. This was a hilarious episode. I loved how they made fun of people who always tell stupid sex jokes. I needed that.
"What did you expect? Lobster?"
Ugh, I don't think I can watch the old episodes anymore after Casino Night. Especially Sexual Harassment, because Pam's mom comes to visit.
Yeah, That'sWhatSheSaid, I think I'm taking a self-imposed hiatus from "The Office" for awhile. For the sake of my sanity. And besides, nothing except what happened after The Kiss is going to do it for me.
Yeah, That'sWhatSheSaid
...
nothing except what happened after The Kiss is going to do it for me.
That's what she said!
ha, good times.
But yeah, watching the old eps seems like too far of a step back. I;m watching season 1 again. I can barely do that because the colors are so bland. I guess I got spoiled by starting with the Dundies (first ep i watched)
I'm wondering if they censored anything for the rerun last thursday. I was reading a B.J. Novak interview a while back and he mentioned they had to fight to be able to say "boner" in such a context.
I forgot how hilarious this episode is (Michael walking past Pam and her mom with the blow-up doll and casually tossing it out into the hallway is my favorite part). I'm going to have to start taping the reruns so I can get my season 2 fix (already got The Secret, Boys and Girls, Casino Night, and The Dundies on my VHS)
I always catch something new on a reviewing.
I always thought it was all Jim who got Michael to say "That's what she said", but after watching this rerun, I noticed that Michael looked over and Todd Packer gave him the nod.
Jim led Michael to the water, but Todd Packer made him drink.
This is probably listed elsewhere on the site, but I'm new here (and lazy); the actress playing Pam's mom looks very familiar. Who is she?
BTW: Pam's mom is cool. And though this has been discussed before here I'm sure, I loved seeing again that she didn't ask "Which one's Jim?" directly or loudly, but hushed, and after Roy left the room...
Thanks, IGYB.
She's been in a lot of stuff.
(yikes! there's a very un-Beesley nude photo of her...don't tell Pam)
Wow! Another abbreviated thread. It was quite funny, although two things caught my attention.
The scene where Michael goes to the warehouse is awful. That group is horrible to him, and they don't get any better in the conference room. It's undermining Darryl for me. He is frequently a condescending jerk, but I do like that his biggest worry during boys and girls is getting the shipment out on time, that he wants to play basketball for dinner out because it's more fun, and he picks his daughter over Kelly without hesitation. But this scene puts all the other bad Darryl scenes ahead of that in my mind.
When Packer is telling that joke at the end of the episode and Michael sort of stands up for Phyllis, he calls her old. She points out that they graduated the same year but he still insists she's old by trying to make some explanation about school year/birthday cut offs and how his was later... which reveals that he was old for his grade, probably. I think it's hilarious that he doesn't make the connection.
Edited to fix the names. I meant Darryl, not Lonny. Thanks, Brian.
Yeah, that's who I figured she must have meant.
Sometime between Sexual Harassment and Boys and Girls the writers gave a new quality to Darryl's character. He was not very well-defined at first, but now he's definitely the only fully-functioning grownup at D-M Scranton, and - along with Pam - comes closer to being "perfect" than any other character. Think about it. When is Darryl ever on the wrong side of an incident or interaction?
It's true that he treats Michael like a buffoon, but usually only when Michael's about to do something that's going to get himself or somebody else killed.
which reveals that he was old for his grade, probably.
From Dunder Mifflin Infinity:
Ever since I was a kid people have been telling me I can't do things. "You can't be on the team", "You can't move on to second grade". Well, now they're telling me that I can't win back clients using old fashioned business methods. [shakes head] We'll see about that. And FYI, I eventually aced second grade, and I was the biggest kid in class.
I just rewatched this episode last night and the deleted scene where Pam apologizes to Jim for harassing him with the Ms. Winking Smileyface and he says his attorney Mr. Angryface will be contacting her really should have been left in.
Since I see a theme coming on, I decide to watch some eppy's first dundies and now this. I forgot how much I love when Michael gets everyones attention for Toby and pretty much runs him into the ground, Toby's response. "Yeah, okay" but it drips with hatred at Michael. It's such a great reading of the line.
I watched this tonight as I folded clothes. I love you season 2.
I can't get over the smirk on Jim's face in one of the last scenes where Pam's mom whispers, "Which one is Jim?".
