I don't want to keep complaining about "how the show has changed

It really is hard to let go of, though. It's just so disappointing.

And now "Gay Witch Hunt" is on. This must be the beginning of whiplash. Like whiplash in slow mo. That must make us the crash test dummies.

You can learn a lot from a dummy.

It's just so disappointing.

I keep hoping, but I know I'm just kidding myself.

I couldn't even bear to watch Casino Night (plus it was Minnow's bathtime) tonight. It was too much.

Apr 27th 2010

Actually, although I did watch it tonight, Casino Night should only be seen in its full DVD glory and not with 10 minutes chopped out. The end is still ok.

Apr 28th 2010

The end is still ok.

I actually got defensive about this. In my head I screamed "Still OKAY??? That's all you can say?!?!?!? It is only the conclusion of the greatest hour of television in the last 10 years!!!!! Lost is ok. The series finale of Cheers was ok. The ending of Casino Night was not just "ok".

Deep breaths. I know what you meant. Don't get me started about Casino Night. Boy do I love that episode.

Apr 28th 2010

I was going for ironic detachment, but I'm glad to see it got a reaction out of you. This:

It is only the conclusion of the greatest hour of television in the last 10 years!!!!!

is how I feel about it as well.

Apr 28th 2010

I know. I know. It wasn't a measured, logical response. Sometimes I just let my emotions get the better of me.

Apr 28th 2010

This episode right here is the one which made me really fall in love with the show. The ID badge, the list of pranks, the undercurrent of conflict between Jim & Pam . . . quality television.

Apr 28th 2010

The special file to New York...Michael's photoshop skills...Angela's dismissal of the Save the Date as "not her taste"...so many things to love about CR.

Apr 29th 2010

I've always in enjoyed this episode, but the more I watch it, the more I realize that I underated it. It probably should be in or near my top 5.

Watching the first two seasons over the last few weeks, I'm surprised how much this episode jumped out at me. It's pretty...powerful? Is that too strong a word? It's so intense. It really sets up the finale well. The way Pam says "OK." during the group shot after Jim admits he complained about her made me feel queasy, like I wouldn't have wanted to be him right there. Also, the nickels in the phone made me chuckle again.

It sets up Jim's desperation well, but Pam's cluelessness is still a bit hard to believe as they head into the finale. The idea that he complained about her wedding plans should have had greater implications on their interactions in Casino Night.
