Who are you? And why?

I'll start. As much as I'd love to be Pam (especially in Casino Night), I'm basically Creed trapped in Phyllis's body.

Although, I am an artist in the process of applying for receptionist jobs, so maybe I am a little Pam...

Hmmm. I smell the makings of a quiz. That I could hopefully one day post in a blog.

I don't really know which character I am. I do seem to always be pining after friends that I can't have, so that would kinda be Jim. But that doesn't really make sense. Out of all the female characters, I'd probably be most like Pam. Angela is too uptight, Phyllis seems too nice, Meredith a little too divorced, and I'm not as desperate as Jan.

And I wish I was trapped in Pam's body.

I could be Jim for that same reason. Although it's only one friend that I've ever pined for...

But on more of a professional basis, I think I'm most like Ryan. I keep taking jobs that are beneath me, and I hate every day of them. Maybe I could go work at the urinalasys lab...

Oh, and I wouldn't mind being trapped in Pam's body too... but not the same way you meant CZ-J

May 16th 2006

And I wish I was trapped in Pam's body.

That's what she sai--! Wait, no. That doesn't really make sense... Dang it, I thought I had one there. Anyway...

I feel a lot like Jim, which is probably the point of his character, to make him the most relatable. Aside from my terrible habit of developing crushes on girls who "just wanna be friends," I often feel directionless (up until recently that is, so don't feel too bad for me). I'm also not in love with my current job (Starbucks barista isn't quite as bad as paper salesman, but you hear me, right?), and I usually have more fun at work that detracts from actual "work." And finally, I am incredibly handsome and charming.

And straight. Just clarifying.

And finally, I am incredibly handsome and charming.

And modest too... ;-)

Does anyone notice that Phyllis eavesdrops on conversations a lot? She seems to be always bending her ear to listen in and then she'll make an expression or a short comment (to nobody in particular) in reaction what she heard. I think of Phyllis as sweet and gentle, but not all that likeable because of her nosiness.

May 16th 2006

Another Jim here, especially in the "crushes on co-workers" situation. I work at a grocery store to pay the bills for college until my writing career takes off (or I finally decide on a more realistic career path, whichever comes first), so I tend to work with a lot of attractive females who like me, but I always fall for the ones that are in relationships. Horrible habit, and a lot of angst on my part when they're stuck in a bad relationship and I get to hear about it. Currently in this situation, actually, so the finale gave me a little hope that things can be resolved somehow.

Oh, and I am incredibly handsome and charming as well ;-p

May 16th 2006

I've been racking my brain, trying to draw parallels with any other character besides Jim or Pam, but I can't. I guess if I was actually most like Dwight or Michael, I wouldn't realise it. I'm going to go with Pam, mainly because I've done the receptionist thing and I want to be a graphic designer. Also, when I was working my reception job one of my co-workers told me he had feelings for me. Too bad he didn't look anything like John Krasinski or crack jokes like Jim, so don't think I'm bragging or anything.

Also, I'm hungover right now, so maybe I've got a little more Meredith in me than I'd like to think about. Why is my computer so bright? argh.

May 16th 2006

I am totally Jim, and my Pam is Veronica from work. We are great friends but she knows that I would marry her in a heartbeat if she ever wanted to. I don't think the father of her daughter and live in boyfriend would like that!!!:( We're like the "hispanic" version

I think that I have a little bit of all of them in me (maybe that’s why I love this show)

I think I have a lot in common with Pam. She’s the closest to my age. I have curly hair that I don’t really know what to do with half the time, and I’m not the most trendy dresser, but I have been known to pull it together and look pretty cute on special occasions (if I do say so myself). I also think that I try to be nice to everyone, and even put up with a lot of crap from certain people, just like Pam. And I rock at computer games.

As scary as it is, I have stuff in common with Dwight. I watch “Lost” like it’s my job. If I only had three books on a dessert island you better bet one, if not all of them would be Harry Potter. Also, I love the Phillies (I get a huge kick out of the Mike Lieberthal bobble head on Dwight's desk)

I’m a student like Ryan.

I can talk a lot like Kelly (as evident by my super long posts).

I can knit like Phyllis (but I mainly make scarves; if I tried to make an oven mitt it would not be pretty).

I’m Irish like Creed.

Chili’s is my favorite restaurant, so I even have something in common with Michael.

I have tons in common with Jim. I can’t miss my TV shows. I’m easy going. I usually put minimal effort into most things (not something I’m proud of). I am totally the type of person who will crush on someone forever and never have the guts to do anything about it. I also love practical jokes, although I’m an amateur compared to Halpert.

And this may sound weird, but I also have a something in common with the film crew. When I work in an office during my summers I know absolutely everything that happens in that place. I may not have cameras everywhere, but I have my ways. Some information I get from various sources, other times I just overhear a juicy piece of gossip. Weather it’s that someone is getting fired or that somebody got dumped by his girlfriend, I will know about it long before it hits the office grapevine. And, just like the documentary crew, I’ll keep the info to myself. The best is when secrets finally get out and I pretend to be all surprised (imagine what the crew's reactions would be like if anyone ever said to them “Hey, guess what. Oscar is gay.”).

JMW54 after reading your post, it makes me want to contribute to this thread. I was kind of head scratching as well, because I'm not really like 1 specific character but a little bit of a bunch of characters.

I'm a little like Pam in that (to borrow from Performance Review) I'm trustworthy... and a woman... I use to work at the front desk for a local gym so answering and transferring phones were my specialty. I've even made an ass out of myself in the overhead anouncement speaker and then get made fun of afterwards. And I'm happy to say that my boyfriend IS my best friend and soon it will be that way for Pam too, hopefully.

Like JMW54 I can be sort of Kelly too because I can be chatty at times, just look at each of my posts...

I'm even sort of like Michael. Though not to his extreme, I do care about what other people think of me and I do try to be everyone's friend. It gets under my skin when someone is mad at me.

I'm a student like Ryan. Now if I had to go to a booze cruise the night before an exam, I think I might quit on the spot.

After all this, The Office is lacking one more character. THE TOKEN ASIAN! Like myself! They've only mentioned Ping, Michael's impersonation. Is that enough? I can think of a billion chinese people that would beg to differ. ;)

May 16th 2006 edited

Well, I'm religious like Angela. But I hate cats. So, I'm probably mostly like Pam. I'm not good with kids, I can't ice skate, I like to draw, I love Jim, and I have a job I hate. There you go.

May 16th 2006

Hey Two-Hole Punch Jim. I recognize you from IMDB!

As for which character, I'd say I'm a woman-Jim. Does that make sense? Actually, I'm only caught in a Jim situation.

What's weird is, I feel like I'm a Michael too.

Heck, I should just be every single male character on the show.

May 17th 2006

Lately I would say I'm Meredith, but only because this show has taught me what it means to be addicted to something.

I feel most like Jim, not primarily because of (formerly?) unrequited love, though I have been in that position, but because I'm the office joker. In fact, at one job, the receptionist and I would spend entirely too much time discussing the absurd actions of management.

I've never put anyone's things in jello, however.

May 19th 2006 edited

I'm probably a mix between Pam, Kelly, and Jim.... I'm just all around like Pam, being a naturally happy person and I like/am maddly in love with Jim.... but my mom always says I'm like Kelly cause I talk A LOT! but, like Jim, I love a good practical joke... and making fun of people.... hee hee

May 30th 2008

This thread hasn't been posted in for over 2 years. Wow.

Um, I'm like Pam with a dash of Kelly, personality-wise.

May 30th 2008

Since you are my sistah from anotha mistah, I think that would describe me, too. Although, sometimes I can be a little Michael and say some things that shouldn't be said. I don't say them out loud like him, I just whisper them to hubby and we giggle.

May 30th 2008

Um, I'm like Pam with a dash of Kelly, personality-wise.

Other than wanting Jim's bone, how are you like Pam?

May 30th 2008

I'm probably a cross between Pam and Kelly with a little Angela and Meredith thrown in. How's that for a melting pot? I'm not anything Phyllis though.

I'm a lot quieter at work than I am outside of it. I don't like confrontation. I have reddish hair, pale skin, and a heart-shaped face. I can't draw, but I do have secret superpowers that I don't use in my current job.

May 30th 2008

I feel weird in this thread. The last post was barely before I joined up here...the people just preceding us are like ghosts. They were such big Office fans, and now where are they? On some other forum? Watching Dancing with the Stars? Or have they gone to the Great Beyond (Canada)?

May 30th 2008

I know, Jinx. That's why I had to resurrect this thread. To honor them and their service to NA.

May 30th 2008

I'm a lot quieter at work than I am outside of it.

cue Lost music...Me, too. I don't say too much at work unless I am talking to my work best friend. I joke around with him a lot. But yeah, I'm kind of quiet here with everyone else. I don't look like Pam but I do enjoy pulling a good prank with my significant other. He pulls a lot of pranks on a couple of his coworkers so we'll brainstorm good ideas for pranks. He also helps me come up with some for me to do here.

May 30th 2008

Pam's character is so relatable because I think many of us have a little of her personality in us. I have a little bit of Kelly, with a side of Creed and Kevin in there too.......that probably sounds weird for a chick.

May 30th 2008

though I have been in that position

That's what she said, IGotYourBack! Good one, huh?

See? That just seems weird. Shouldn't we show more respect to those long lost souls?

May 30th 2008

Nah. We must ignore them, so as not to hurt them. And in that way, we honor them.

May 30th 2008

I also have Oscar tendencies - especially the fact that I like guys (but I've never tried girls before in an attempt to cross over). But he sometimes has the best snark on the show, but it's so subtle, and I'm like that at work. And he dislikes baby art and so do I, even that Anne Geddes stuff that other chicks like so much.
