I'm not sure how entirely appropriate it would be for me to pimp my music videos here, but I recently made one for Jim/Pam with clips up until the second season finale. It's called "Once" and is played to "Love Will Come Through By" by Travis. I'd love some feedback, if possible:
I also made a more...cheeseball version of "Once" (played to "Hold On to the Nights" by Richard Marx) for those die-hard romantics out there:
Once: Alternate Jam for the Cheeseballs
If all goes well (meaning, if this thread is valid), I will provide links to my other videos.
I watched the Travis one and thought it was lovely. I liked the ending in particular. Thanks for sharing the link.
They're both great. All the great JAM moments wrapped up in one. I liked that you used more dialogue than most of the other clips.
Proudgirl - I'm so glad to see you here! I loved your "Once" on the other site, and was crushed when I went back and saw it was gone. What an awesome video!!! You rock. I hope this one can stay so I can look at it every day, or every hour or whenever I feel the need!!!
Aw thanks! Actually, I have the "cheeseball" version back up now too, so if you wanted to check that out again, the link is in my last post.
I will be linking my other videos shortly.
Great, great video, especially the end. I think the reason I find "The Faces of Scranton" so hilarious is it's gotta be a shoutout to these fan vids on the web.
proudgirl--I love it! You are quite talented in the way you interspersed all those JAM clips within the two scenes from "Casino Night." Thank you for this!
I just watched the non-cheeseball version, and I have to say, that is really, really good. I'd have to watch a few more times to have any constructive compliments, but my first impression was, Wow.
No problem. It was a lot of fun, and the process of making them did help me achieve some level of closure with the finale.
Question: How does one go about making these videos? I wanted to try my hand at a couple, but alas, I don't know the first thing about it. Nor do I know about the last thing or any of the things in the middle either.
If someone would help me out, I'd be proud to name my first child after you.
I really, really like the "These Walls" one. It's so damn good, and I hate Teddy Geiger, but that song is just...so good.
You need a source of video clips, any audio you'd like to add, and video editing software. What you use depends on what kind of computer you are using.
proudgirl: "Once" is the best of the JAM videos out there IMO. I've seen it at least 48 times so I know it well. (is that as scary sounding as I think it is?) What I love: the back & forth between the finale and other clips (makes the story extremely poignant), lots of dialogue included, the use of slo-mo (especially Jim's exit on V-Day, and also Pam's skipping...who else loves Pam's skipping?!), and the monotone color here & there...all very nice elements. The song choice is perfect, and the pause before The Kiss is also. The only one tiny criticism I could possibly offer is that in a couple of instances I wish there was 1/2 to 1 second more in a scene; a couple of them seem a bit clipped (the crush confession, the Halloween clip...) But it really is fantastic work you've done. Hope Jenna & John take a look. More please!
garbagethrower: I love Pam's skipping! I thought I was the only one!
proudgirl: I'll simply say that "Once" is brilliant, wonderful work. I had forgotten how much I like travis, so thanks for that too. Nice work using a Jim Halpert band, too. I'm always more impressed when people do JAM videos to music JAM would like. Thus I will never make a JAM video to an Aerosmith song.
Much thanks for the feedback, everyone.
garbagethrower: 48 times is incredibly flattering. I will look into the "clipped" scenes; thanks for the heads up.
youaresodrunk: I've wanted to do a Travis song for Jam since "The Client." It's just so cool to imagine that they might ACTUALLY be "Jam"min' to this song.
This JAM video is from vodka88 over at LiveJournal. It's one of the best I've seen and the song choice is amazing. Very beautiful. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
Very nice piece from vodka88. Lots of clips from many episodes. Emotional song. Wish it had a bit more dialogue (though we as rabid fans know what is being said, I still like to hear them say it...) But I agree it's one of the best.
proudgirl: As you started this thread I'll ask you; how awesome is it to go to YouTube and see that your video has been viewed over 4000 times? Or 5000 or 6000? Granted, some of us have viewed multiple times, but that must be gratifying.
garbagethrower, I assure you that the awesomeness is absolutely overwhelming. I try not to think about it too much - [jim]don't wanna get too cocky[/jim]. But seriously, it's really flattering and very gratifying. And I like to think that it attests to the growing popularity of this show too, so win-win.
Win.
I coulda sworn I saw a Jam video set to Gavin Degraw's "Follow Thru" on youtube, but maybe I was wrong cause I've searched n searched and can't find it. Anyone else recall this? If not, somebody should make one cause I think following thru is what Jim did when he went back to kiss Pam...
And I was wondering if anyone besides me has characters of Jim and Pam in their Sims2 game?
The NBC contest sounds awesome. I'm rooting for a hardcore fan. To all of you with an Office FanVid on YouTube now: best of luck.
Hi. I'm rather new here and I was wondering if there was anyway I could get some clips from people for some fanvideo ideas I had. I really really want to make some but I do not have the means of capturing video clips :( Anyway any help would be great. Also any advice on making videos would be great. Actually any tips/advice/comments/help would be much appreciated. Gracias. Also I love the Ofiice and this fab fab site. But I'm sure you could guess that. ;)
p.s. - thanks to James for the tip on where to post this!
Please do check out my "Office" promo for NBC's promo contest:

Feedback would be divine, thanks.
Has anyone else been delving into The Office fanfiction or fanvideos to help satisfy their addiction to this show? I've been hitting YouTube pretty hard lately and there are soooo many videos to watch over there, it's ridiculous. DumpRoy from this site, has a bunch over there. If you are craving the antics of Michael Scott and the rest of the DM crew or want to swoon over Jim and Pam, check 'em out. The only negative is, one can spend far too much time looking at the videos - once you start, it's hard to stop!
Oh hey Proudgirl, you're pretty well-known in The Office fan community, I've seen your stuff everywhere, and I remember seeing a link to some of your videos on Angela Kinsleys myspace page and Angela was talking about how good they were.
I throw down the gauntlet, PROUDGIRL, or whoever wants to take up this challenge...It seems that there is no Office fan video to the tune of "Tiny Dancer", a pivotal song from the "Dundies" episode...Anyone care to take this on? :)
~ Lucy
I have made some Office vids. You guys might have seen them already...I'm not sure. I'm agent_scarn on youtube. Peace.
