This was an episode that I had missed when it first aired, and so I didn't get any references that people were making to me, like people I know saying "This is Michael Jackson!". Also, since I did see Client and Performance Review, my timeline was all wonky. Oh well.

Also, does anyone else notice that Jim looks incredibly womanly this episode? It's like the makeup artists decided to make John Krasinski a clown. Just watch the ep and try and tell me you can't notice what I am talking about.

Yes, I have noticed this, as well. I wouldn't necessarily say he looks "womanly," but Jim's lips are cherry red. I wonder what that was all about. Different makeup artist, perhaps?

Huh?

I just watched this episode again and don't think he looks any different than any other episode with the exception of the scene where he lifts Pam up. If that's the case, then I agree both Jenna and John appear flushed (face and cheeks) but I read somewhere that that was because the air conditioning in the trailer was broken or something, and it was really hot and sweaty.

May 21st 2006

Right, right, the air conditioning was broken in the trailers, so Jenna was sweaty and she says she thought she smelled, but John said she didnt, but she still thinks she did and that John was being nice.

But what about the "Fight! Fight! Fight!" scene before the elevator?

But what about the "Fight! Fight! Fight!" scene before the elevator?

So I watched "The Fight"...again... and yes Jim's lips were extra fruitilicious in his talking head scene before the elevator. I'm not complaining though.. ;) I also liked the details the writers included in the episode. With all the talk about Dwight being a practitioner of gojuru (sp?) karatay and being a sempai, I thought it was cool that one scene he was eating etamame (sp?). Which is a delicious Japanese food/snack...

Also when Jim was writing his email to Pam, about how he's sorry if things were weird, he saw the camera crew was looking at him. He then highlighted the text and pressed something. It looks like he deleted it, rather than sending it. Anyone see that? Not that it's a clue to anything that I need to scrutinize about or whatever.

DFP,

Yeah, he deleted the message to Pam, without sending it. The message said:

Hey, if that was weird today, I just wanted to t

That's all he typed before noticing that the camera was over his shoulder.

So I don't think anyone's commented on this, but I particularly love when Jim asks Dwight if he could beat up Roy. Very subtle, but great nonetheless. I'm sure Jim would love nothing more than seeing Dwight beating up Roy. Actually, I would love to see that.

Jun 1st 2006

yeah, we see what Jim was writing, but when the camera pulls back, he sees it, and highlights it, and he writes more, but we can't read it. Believe me, I've tried with freezeframe.

According to my handy handy Office calendar, Michael and Dwight are fighting at the dojo at lunchtime today. So if you're not already down there, go! We're extending lunch hour for you so you can see it.

That's amazing! I heard the Stamford branch was working straight through lunch to prevent downsizing. Fight! Fight! Fight!

Jan 22nd 2007

No, silly. It's the Albany branch.

Jan 22nd 2007

Sweep the leg!

Jan 22nd 2007

Wow, you're right, Hug it out. But I'm still willing to say the Stamford branch should've been working straight through lunch, because they did get downsized.

Jan 22nd 2007

Right you are, CZJ.

Jan 23rd 2007

Yes, LT I noticed that on my calendar as well...

Just rewatching this one, and had a few observations...

  • when Ryan says Catch-22, the look of fake understanding on Michael's face is the funniest non-liner ever
  • when Ryan asks Kevin's emergency contact, the way Kevin says "Staaaceeyy" sounds borderline psychotic
  • Pam reads Jim's palm in a very physical scene that is strikingly different from the distance between them now
  • I can't decide what's funnier: Michael trying out new signatures or Dwight smashing the dummy's face
  • When Michael is talking to Jim and Dwight about fighting, he turns around and gives an impromptu talking head to the camera. That's a big changein the show.
  • Jim: "You know a ton of 14-year-old girls?" Dwight: "What belt are they?"

ETA... * Dwight: "OK, let me take you from behind." Kelly: "What?"

I think I remember reading that pronunication was a spur of the moment thing by Brian Baumgartner, and after the take everyone was "Where the hell did that come from?".

Jim: "You know a ton of 14-year-old girls?" Dwight: "What belt are they?"

Add Michael's "I know a ton of 14-year-old girls that could kick Dwight's ass" to the beginning and that may be the funniest series of lines in the history of the show.

My absolute favorite part of the episode is when Jim steals Dwight's purple belt. "No that's not advice. Let me tell you what advice sounds like. 'Don't bring your purple belt to work because somebody might steal it.' " The way he says steal it and shows the purple belt at the same time kills me every time. I think I'll go watch that now, actually.

Ok, something else I just noticed for the first time. Right before Pam asks Michael to ask Dwight to walk her to her car, Dwight is talking to Kevin, and he says, "Ok, see this pen? Stab me with it."

This is a good episode.

Don't go there, TWSS!

Wow, I had a lot of observations on this one year and four months after it first aired.
