I'm leaving on June 8th: Vacation Speculation

Jun 5th 2006

As 6/8/2006 approaches, I wonder...

Does Jim stay or does he go?

Jun 5th 2006

I don't think he was going to go in the first place, to be honest. At the time the episode aired I thought it might be a real thing that he was planning on, but now? Doubtful, unless the words out of Pam's mouth after the kiss left him with little reason to stick around much longer.

Jun 5th 2006

I don't know....the practical person in me says, "he bought non-refundable tickets, of course he's going to go" but the romantic in me says, "he's gotta stop that wedding!". I guess it all depends on how Pam responded to the Kiss. I'm betting it's going to be left up in the air and Jim will go on vacation/transfer and not know for sure what happened.

Jun 5th 2006

First, I have to say that I am going on vacation June 8th! I have a baby shower to go to on June 10th! I will be thinking of Jam this weekend.

Second, I think Jim will go to Australia. He'll come back, and will have accepted the transfer. I think the two offices will merge at some point due to the downsizing thus bringing Jam back together. I just don't see Pam dropping Roy immediately though she will eventually come around. Like Dawn and Tim, it might take some time apart for Pam to realize what she wants. I know, I over answered this thread!

June 10th is coming too. This weekend!

Someone should register for gifts.

I guess it all depends on how Pam responded to the Kiss.

Me too--I think it all rests on what has happened in the aftermath of Casino Night. If the situation has reached a resolution, I see no reason why he shouldn't go ahead and take a vacation he's already paid for. If Pam still doesn't know what she's going to do, no way does he go--he has to stay and fight it out. He scheduled the vacation as a way of dealing with the seemingly unalterable reality of the wedding. Now that things have changed, as long as there is real hope of altering that reality, the trip is off. If the situation does not require him to stay, he could go.

I could see him calling off the trip anyway if he finds himself together with Pam. If you had just somehow won the love of your life a month before she was to marry someone else, I wouldn't imagine that you'd be too excited at the prospect of turning around and leaving her for a week or two. And even in this best-case scenario, I think it would be too sudden for Pam to come along with him, even though she has always wanted to go to Australia. They just don't seem like the type.

I can see Jim going (coming) to Australia to give Pam some time to sort out what she's going to do. If the wedding is called off, Pam will need time to figure out what she can do next. In my opinion, Jim shouldn't be around her while that's going on.

In my own experience, time away is perfect for sorting out tricky situations like this.

btw, it's now the 8th of June... Jim might be on his way here. I will meet him at the airport if he needs :P

Very real possibility, Mixed Berries.

Jun 8th 2006

I really wished that they would have mentioned this (seemingly important) plot point in the finale. Or really in any episode outside "Dwight's Speech." It would have left a little less to speculation, and it would have let us know that the writers hadn't just forgot about it. I know it's very unlikely, but so far it's a theory that's gone unchallenged. It feels like the Australia bit was meant for the episode alone at this point.

Thusly, I will be both estatic and apologetic to Mr. Daniels and his crew should they address Australia in the premiere.

That's how they get us tuning back in for season 3...

I like this. I like it a lot. I personally, do not want Jim to stop the wedding, break up the wedding, interrupt the wedding or any other variation. I'd much prefer Pam making the choice to leave Roy in order to better her life (with Jim), but I also think JAM should take things very slowly.

Like the rest of you, I can only speculate what happened after the Casino Night smooch. My ideal scenario would be that they talked some more afterwards and Pam went home to talk to Roy and the wedding is called off. I'd like for Jim to go on his vacation while Pam sorts things out in Scranton. I don't think it's wise for him to be tagging along, helping her pack or move her stuff into another place. I'd want Pam to get settled into a brand new situation (after being with Roy for so many years) and when Jim comes back from Australia, they can start to slowly develop their new relationship.

I love this whole scenario. No gaps for us in the ongoing Jim & Pam relationship, yet she still has her "me time." Definitely win-win. I'd add on another "win," but I don't know how that fits here.

Here we are.....under 24hrs from the big day.......

Aug 2nd 2006

The more I hear (and think) about how the producers and writers continually show us the unexpected, the more I think that Pam and Roy will be married come the season premiere!

Since Jim's confession, I'd assume most fans would think that Pam would postpone or call off the wedding, so maybe the show will shock us and we'll discover RAM really tied the knot (Jeez, I can barely type that)!!

This hiatus from The Office is pretty tough! And now with the news of three new cast members and rumors about a potential love interest for Jim other than Pam...let's just say Sept. 21 cannot come fast enough for me!!

Has anyone's speculations changed drastically since the beginning of the summer? I'm strictly a JAM shipper, but I admit I'm growing a little nervous with the latest internet buzz. I should probably just chill and wait for the premiere, I know. It's totally their fault. They shouldn't have made the show so damn good!

Dump Roy,

I have been thinking the same thing since I read the writer's comments alluding to the kiss situation. I can't imagine a surprise or twist otherwise. Unless, Jim decides he does not want Pam? What! No! That's crazy talk! We all have the same idea as to where S3 will pick up. (Pam not married and Jim moves away before he knows that.) We didn't see the kiss coming so who knows what they'll throw at us. I just know it will be great even if we have to wait a bit longer for JAM. According to the My Space blogs, Episode 1 is supposed to be awesome and answer a lot. We'll see if that is true. Speculation, speculation...

Aug 2nd 2006

I just can't imagine a scenario where Roy & Pam are married beginning of S3. I agree with the producers and writers often doing the unexpected, but they still have to appeal to their audience if they want to attract viewers and stay on the air, and that is NOT what 98% of the viewers want to see. And 98% is probably a conservative estimate.

Aug 2nd 2006

Ever since they said that it would be "surprising" how "the kiss is handled", I have been racking my brain. They even mentioned that they do read the fan forums! So they know we have thought of many options. She can't possibly marry Roy. Right?
So that's left me to think of all the wild and improbable possibilities: Could they not mention the kiss at all (since P&J assume the cameras didn't catch them, they never mention it)?
Maybe Pam slapped Jim after the kiss, and ran out, never to speak to him again?
Maybe she immediately says "I'll cancel the wedding"?
Maybe he proposes and she accepts?
Maybe Pam turns into a vampire and bites his neck?
Maybe a DeLorean pulls up and Jim hops in, in order to go back in time and have Pam fall in love with him before she even meets Roy?
Okay, I'll stop there, but all I can say is, I better be surprised! And they did it once with Casino Night (something I didn't expect and it blew me away!), so I know they can do it again.

Casino Night was different. We all watched the show every week and watched Jim pass up so many opportunities to tell Pam about his feelings for her. They set it up to look like if Jim told Pam anything at all, it would be about his potential transfer. So, we were all taken by surprise when it actually happened.

Now it's different because we've had several months to consider what is happening with Pam and Jim. We don't have a new episode every week to steer us in any different direction. We are focused on the events that occurred on Casino Night. That's what we are left with to ponder over.

On this board, we have given it a lot of thought and I think that we've considered every possibility. I agree with Andy the Cat who doesn't think we could possibly be surprised.

Aug 3rd 2006

Speaking of the surprise the writers hinted at, what if Jim doesn't go to Australia but Pam does? Ok, so Pam tells Jim she needs to think about things some more and Jim says "Go to Australia. Take my ticket. Clear your mind and I'll be here when you get back." So the wedding is postponed, Pam travels and comes back, he DOESN'T go to Stamford but Stamford does come to him, Jim gives Pam room to make a decision, but then he gives up on Pam being a part of his life and goes after RJ, etc. etc.

Or not.

Can anyone else tell that I am sooooooo bored at work right now?

Aug 3rd 2006

sharky-

I think that any of these scenarios are possible. Most people seem to already be accepting that Jim left and will be coming back in a downsizing situation, since that's where most arrows point, but really there are many different possibilities left open.

Aug 3rd 2006

Maybe a DeLorean pulls up and Jim hops in, in order to go back in time and have Pam fall in love with him before she even meets Roy?

Brilliant! Simply brilliant!

I've got nothing. Just trying to drop the closed ones to the very bottom.

I miss sharky.
