I just want to say to the few of you who will remain under my employ, that I intend to lead you into the black with ferocity.

Tomorrow could quite possibly be the greatest day of all time. First, a new epsiode of The Office. Second, it's my birthday! I got a package in the mail today - I have a suspicious feeling it contains the Severence Package DVD set. Win, win, win.

Oct 4th 2006

Has anyone watched the preview clips over at Yahoo? It looks like this episode is going to be another winner.

Oct 4th 2006 edited

Happy pre-b-day, JLJ! Hope the package is what you're hoping for. TWSS

Oct 4th 2006

I can't wait for this thursdays show! Last weeks was funny but I will be happy to see them back at the office.

Will Michael till Pam about Jim?

I was wondering about the time between the Casino Night and when he transfered. I iwhs we could see that dialogue, he couldnt have tranfsered and be gone the next day! Hummmmm i wonder.

I can't wait to see more dwangela too!

Oct 4th 2006

Happy birthday, Jenna Loves Josh!

Oct 4th 2006

I hope that they, in one way or another, get the ball rolling on the branch merger. I don't know how long I can watch Jim hang out all by himself over in Stamford (unless the other characters there suddenly become a lot more interesting). Given what appears to be the plot of this episode, it seems like a possibility that the future of DM may be revealed somewhat.

Oct 4th 2006

Happy Day, JLJ.

I need some advice. The Office will start right around the third inning of Mets-Dodgers. What do I do? Plus my wife's Gray's Anatomy is competing for DVR time. What a quandary!!!

It's positively nebulose.

Oct 4th 2006

I watched the Yahoo previews...it does look like a good one. I have been waiting for Jan to really lay into Michael since she was "dumped." Should be great! But, I am wondering what Dwight's attempt at takeover will do to his relationship with Michael. AND Jim needs to come back NOW, not the 5th episode or the 8th, NOW. It's too weird and empty without him in Scranton.
Brian, you have to watch The Office! :) My husband and I have the DVR issue over Grey's and UFC. What a situation...watch The Office and then catch up with the game? Grey's episode repeats on Friday night, so it doesn't have to be missed.

Oct 4th 2006

We have two DVRs so it's conceivable we could pause the game and watch The Office then fast forward through the commercials and catch up with the game real-time pretty quick. But Grey's (Gray's?) puts a monkey wrench in that plan since my wife prefers it to The Office.

Man, imagine if I had real problems.

Oct 4th 2006

The Office will start right around the third inning of Mets-Dodgers. What do I do?

This would be a bigger problem if The Office was longer.

The official start time is listed as 8:19 ET for Mets-Dodgers, thanks to all the pregame crap FOX does. I was an intern with the Astros last fall during their playoff run; playoff baseball just doesn't start on time. The Office will start in the middle of the first inning.

The Dodgers are pitching rookie One Hung Low -- er, Hong-Chih Kuo -- who has a great strikeout rate but no bigtime experience. The Mets will jump on him in the bottom of the first. He has a 5.59 ERA in the first 15 pitches of his outings this season.

By the time The Office is over, the third inning will still not have started. I'd put money on it. That gives you seven innings of listening to Jack Buck's son trying to deal with Tim McCarver.

I'm a huge baseball guy, but you've gotta go with The Office. I'd be saying the same thing if it was the Cardinals playing.

Oct 4th 2006

That was jaw-droppingly precise advice on all counts. I didn't even think to check the listing, but the late start seems obvious now. (though Kuo did shut them down for six innings in mid-Sept.)

I'm going with The Office.

Oct 4th 2006

(though Kuo did shut them down for six innings in mid-Sept.)

I almost considered revising my statement after noticing that, but it's October now.

Playoffs? Don't talk about playoffs! You kidding me? Playoffs?

Man, imagine if I had real problems.

Brian, You do have real problems. You have to not only watch the episode, but record it by some method so you can refer back to it for our forum discussions.

I was going to say, do what I did and get another DVR box, but you already have that. My DVR boxes can record 2 programs at a time, or you can watch one and record another. Any chance you have that capability and don't know it?

Do you have a computer that receives a TV signal? That's another option.

If you have an IPOD, you can download it the next day. I have an audio-video IPOD connector which enables me to take any video on my IPOD and watch it from my TV set. This is the least favorable option because you will have to wait until Friday to watch it, and you'll have to stay away from the boards until then because every post will be a spoiler to you.

The people that want Jim back - relax, he'll be back soon.

I don't want them to force the issue. I want him to stay where he is, for as long as he can, to build on his inevitable return. A season is 22 episodes, give or take, why would you want him to come back in episode #3 - that's insane. There are too many people that are all - Jim and Pam, nothing more, but that's not real life, and, wow, kudos to this show for trying to make something as real as possible. This isn't the movies, where Jim will be at his desk, look over to see .. not Pam, hang up the phone, grab his stuff, get stopped on his way out...

WHAT ARE YOU DOING, someone will ask.

I LOVE HER, Jim says .. brushing past the person, and out the door.

Jim goes back, walking back into Scranton - I LOVE YOU, Pam - they hug/kiss, etc...

Guess what, that's not how things work .. maybe in the movies, but not in real life.

Okay - vent over.

Oct 5th 2006

Happy Birthday, Jenna Loves Josh. I hope it's packed with Office-y goodness!

Oct 5th 2006

Jenna Loves Josh, happy b-day. And your present is...a hopefully hilarious new episode of The Office!

Just to cover my bases if the episode fails to live up to expectations, I am prepared to send you the famous "George W. Bush Side-by-Side with a Monkey" Facial Expressions comparison that's been circulating on the internet for years ;-p

Oct 5th 2006

Brian -- You could get lucky and have the game rained out like it did last night for my Tigers. Or you could be unlucky like my husband the Mets fan and married to me. If, and that's a big IF, it's a Tigers-Mets series, my husband is staying with a friend.

Back on topic! I just keep reminding myself that every episode brings us a little closer and closer to a Jam reunion and that makes me feel better. Each week is just such a roller coaster. I start laughing at some joke...and then angst!...and then Michael tries to kiss a dude...and angst!...and Dwight got a hooker...and angst! Ugh. Make the pain stop.

With Michael knowing about Jim now, I think he's going to try and play Cupid. I can just imagine Michael saying to Pam "I need to call Jim to ask him about something," and then thinking he's a brilliant matchmaker for making Pam do that.

Oct 5th 2006

Wait, isn't the office on at 8:30 and grey's at 9 that's at least how it is in my house, as i've mentionoed before, I work nights so I never see it until the following morning so this is the two timed vcr recordings in my house:(I know i know dvr, i should have it)
TV1:
*8:30-the office
*9:00-CSI
*10-ER

TV2:
*8:30-the office
*9:00-greys anatomy
*10-ER

(always good to have a backup unless something goes wrong

Does anyone else think that the NBC synopsis blurb of this episode sounds really weird? Pam having a fashion show? Jim getting killed in "virtual reality"? Do people still say "virtual reality"?? And Movie Monday...really? Oh well, I guess we'll find out soon enough. I don't think I'm going to be able to watch it until Monday afternoon; I'm out of town this weekend for a wedding, and I leave this evening. Boo! But thank goodness for DVR :-)

Oct 5th 2006

Wow! People around here just go crazy for my birthday, I don't know why. Fun fact, I share my birthday with Nicky Hilton, so I have a perfect icebreaker next time I'm out clubbing with Paris and the gang. But seriously, thanks. Ditching work to play golf with some friends, then home to watch The Office, doesn't get much better than that. My wish for tonight's episode is that we get either a reconnection between Jim & Pam, or more explanation for why they don't seem to be communicating now. And that Michael is the facilitator in a clumsy but charming way.

Oct 5th 2006

Good job on growing older, JLJ. And Happy Birthday to Nicky Hilton as well.

My roommates are geeks for Smallville, so I won't be able to watch it on the Hi-Def TV in our living room. I have to settle for the low-res TV in my room. Le sigh. I got the iTunes season pass so everything is gravy.

Just reading that I realized that I too am a geek. But I'm an Office geek, so I'm incredibly cooler. At least on this board. Right, guys? Guys?

I'm interested in where the Pam/Jim subplots are going in this ep. Are they related? Do the two even mention each other? Will Pam ever mention Jim's name again?

I'm also wanting to see more Andy. That's all I ask for. And a Pony. And this chair. But nothing else! And this lamp, and this remote control. But I don't need anything else!

This post took a somewhat nonsensical turn at the end.

Oct 5th 2006

This post took a somewhat nonsensical turn at the end.

Don't worry UR, it's just the Thursday Office Anticipation that's getting to you. At least you get to see the episode tonight. I have to wait for iTunes on Friday.

Oh, and yes, being an Office geek is infinitley cooler than being a Smallville geek. But I don't really need to tell you that, do I? :o)

Oct 5th 2006

Wow, Unflinchingly Rigid...Props for the "Jerk" reference; that was so random!

I too am eagerly awaiting tonite's episode. I teach a class on Thursday nights that ends at 8:15 that is a 10 minute drive from my home. I don't have any fancy DVR/Tivo stuff, and I don't know how to program my VCR (sad, I know). So, I end the class at PRECISELY 8:15 and break several laws to get home by 8:30. Seriously, last week I was doing like 50mph in the turn lane; not good.

And I totally believe Michael would do a "Movie Monday"; I'm beginning to believe there isn't anything he wouldn't do in the name of fun.

Oct 5th 2006

Elaine986...I totally agree. When I think "virtual reality" I think goggles and silly gloves, not XBox. :) And why would shy little Pam, who won't even leave her top bottom undone, have a fashion show? Should be an interesting show!

Oct 5th 2006

yeah, i don't usually "set my vcr" usually (because the tape lasts six hours) I just hit "record" and leave, it almost always works

Oct 5th 2006

I as a baseball, Smallville and Office nut am conflicted but The Office comes first, Smallville is taped and playoffs will have to wait until the World Series to kick The Office out.

Oct 5th 2006 edited

First part of the episode over. This...this isn't funny.

And, yikes. Easily worst episode of the series thusfar. Though, the bits between two characters at Stamford were definitely great.

Oct 5th 2006

I thought it was ok. Not horrible, i loved the MOnkey/Branch line. Any thoughts?

Oct 5th 2006

great episode!

The Call of Duty plot had me laughing the entire time.

Creed's line about "just looking" was great too.
