Officetalley lists the episode on the 26th as Gay Witch Hunt again! Is it actually a rerun?
Yeah, since it's close to Halloween they should re-run the Halloween episode from last year if they're gonna do a re-run and aren't doing a Halloween episode this year.
Denise
I agree, they should run Halloween. Someone on Officetally said that shows always have to run a lot of reruns because 25 episodes don't stretch very far, but it seems unusual to run a rerun so quickly. I think something's up. I suspect they might be tweaking some of the episodes and needed the extra time. Just a theory.

It's technically possible, but I REALLY doubt anything's being tweaked this late in the game.
I agree that 4 new episodes, then a re-run does seem a little unfair here. We waited a long time for the season to get rolling, and I'm not ready for a break. I wonder what the deal is. And I wonder why GWH was chosen? It seems strange to re-air that already, especially when they have a holiday episode to re-air that day.
Crazy NBC folk.
Weren't people on here saying that the order of the third season episodes has been rearranged from the original intentions? Is it possible that they submitted their lineup to the listings people and never resubmitted them? I don't know how those things work.
(won't it be 5 new episodes?)
and I don't think it's that big of a deal -- as long as it's just one (maybe two) week break. It's not like we're talking about an extended hiatus like Lost.
KarenM, I'm not sure if I understood your question. But yeah, they did switch episode order - NBC had it on their website that this week would be the Initiation episode, but then switched it later to Grief Counseling. I'm not sure how likely it is that they could tweak things at this point - but I do know that the episodes follow an arc but can be switched around to some extent - at least I know that's why they do the first 7 and then move on to the next 7 etc. If that makes sense. So there's a general arc of where the story is going but details can be tweaked. If they decided to make the merger happen a tad faster they may have had time to film a different episode in between to move the story to that point more quickly.
It's just a theory, maybe not even that plausible, but it does seem unusual to have repeats already. Last fall I do not believe they started airing repeats until December. There might have been one repeat week in November over Thanksgiving week, but that's fairly normal - a lot of the time there are repeats on Thanksgiving day, or it gets bumped with other programming. So it does seem kinda weird that it's already happening.
Of course, last year they had the huge gap with the Olympics and that long hiatus in the spring. So, it really just means that we get more episodes then. I wouldn't sweat it too much.
After waiting for what seemed like forever, I don't even want to think about not having a new show every week! :) But, with the holidays coming up it's inevitable.
Is there a World Series game scheduled that night? I don't think it would make a big difference in viewership, but maybe that is part of the reason for the rerun.
Good call, JLJ, as usual. Game 5 of the series (best of 7) is the 26th, so more than likely there will be a game, unless there's a sweep as some of us have had to endure already...
Plus, remember it's the last Thursday before November. I'm sure they have some great shows in their arsenal for Sweeps Month and probably want to hold off airing them until November to get the maximum ratings from them. Jam reunion anyone?
They are re-airing GWH at my personal request. You see, we recorded that episode on our cable DVR, but the recording quality has degraded so much that we returned the DVR to our cable company and have been using TiVO ever since.
That means we no longer have GWH recorded in my house so that we can rewatch it endlessly like the other episodes. Therefore, I called the NBC office and asked if they could re-air it soon, and they agreed.
Sometimes, you just have to call people and cross your fingers. Plus it helps to have a relative high up in the NBC programming dept.
Baric, we'll email GWH to you. Ask for a new Halloween episode. There was one last year, right? And there was a world series. So why not this year?
The very least, ask them to re-air Halloween.
Remember what happened at the end of last season? Episodes were so spaced out that they had to show a ton of reruns because they showed so many episodes in the first half of the season. If anything, I think it is a good idea they spread them out a little more.

Can't they just give us more than 22 episodes? There are 52 weeks in a year. We should get at least 32 episodes. That would still give them 20 weeks off. C'mon now.

Yes! Well said. Can I sign that petition? :)

Also remember that the season was initially supposed to end March 27, and the scheduling was laid out as such. When the 22nd episode was added, the finale was pushed back to May 11. This required reruns to fill in the space.
I don't know. I hope so.

TWSS! (Sorry, Scranton on Speed. I just had to do that. I hope I didn't go too far. My apologies if you were offended.)

No offense, vfdj42, but this thread may win the prize for Most Lame, you know, IMHO.
vfdj42, if you don't respond, we'll take your silence as admitting that you're a douche for creating this thread...

Didn't they get a beatdown for something else that was said in another thread? I think he didn't like Casino Night or something. Am I remembering that wrong?
