She has done an amazing job with her character. Jan sure as heck better not ever leave the show.
Wow, I kind of hate myself for saying that.
Hey, don't beat yourself up. There was no way of knowing she'd turn those words against you.
KarenM posted this on the first page, over two years ago. Very interesting in light of what happened later.
I get the impression sometimes (perhaps from fantasies about the show that play in my head) that Jan doesn't like being a high-powered NYC executive. We haven't seen that she's particularly good at it, although she can play and dress the part. Maybe the lower-key Scranton lifestyle is attractive to her, too. She's been married in NYC already... why not motherhood and a small-town life?
I think of her less as bipolar than as a true and secret self fighting with her image of the liberated female professional she thinks she ought to be. Michael could be her out if she wants. He'd marry and impregnate her in a heartbeat. In the speculation thread, people wondered if there would be a pregnancy scare. I wonder if it would be hers. Michael will be crushed if it's a mistake.
Wow, KarenM was really close. I amlost wonder if she knew something the rest of us didn't. Then I read
she can play and dress the part.
According to Angela, we all know what career Jan dresses for.
Karen's pretty insightful
One smart cookie, I'd say, if she wasn't around.
Melora's site should have taken the hard-sell all the way. That would have been refreshing and funny. She's actually three-quarters the way there already.
I remember saying that! And I forgot all about it! Wow.
And I've been around without posting for a day or two, so I'm very glad none of you had to say those things to me. You wouldn't want to hear what I would have said in return.
I know that nobody respects actors necessarily as insightful authors, but it makes me sad to see someone who looks and sounds like she can read and express herself on screen resort to textspeak. It looks awful to have the "u" and the @/ and all that crap associated with her name. I don't want to read updates from people with that clutter in it.
No they do not.
No offense, Melora's a great actress and everything, but judging from her interviews, her twats, and her website, she seems to be obsessed with herself...
I don't care what Melora's twat looks like, I'd still like to see it.
You, sir, are gross.
she seems to be obsessed with herself...
Yeppers.
I fail to be surprised at a self-obsessed actor. Or, really, anyone being self-obsessed.
I fail to be surprised at a self-obsessed actor.
Yeah, if my pay was based on how much attention people paid to me, lookout world! Here I come! She seems to be a little more self promoting than most, but you have to have a little of that in show business.
Melora's Twatting
I expected something entirely different when I clicked that...
Self-absorbed actor doesn't bother me. But surely she's read scripts in standard English. She knows what it is. Why drop it? What on earth is there to gain with the cutesy symbols and abbreviations? It's knocked like ten percent of her credibility off her resume.
It doesn't surprise me that she's self absorbed, but it disappoints me that she's so brazen about it. It's very off putting.
E! is saying that Melora snagged the lead in FX's tv show Lights Out about an ex-prize fighter. Does this mean no more Jan?
We can only hope!
She was an interesting character about two seasons ago. Now...not so much.
E! is saying that Melora snagged the lead in FX's tv show Lights Out about an ex-prize fighter.
Is she the ex-prize fighterr? Because that could be interesting as long as there's no singing. Or constant singing. One way or the other.
And Jan just kind of disappeared after "Baby Shower," didn't she? No resolution to any of that stuff, right?
I just realized she is in the Rocketeer and she plays Trudy in Monk. Such a differnt character I didn't even make the connection.
For some really bizarre reason, I was thinking about Jan Levinson and her crazy character arc. And her crazy behavior.
Will Jan ever make another appearance on The Office? Discuss.
I hope not either.
I saw Melora Hardin on a PSA for something or other on CBS a few days ago. Epilepsy, maybe? Anyway, she was very un-Jan-like.
I hope Melora Hardin is so successful that she never graces her presence on the show or DVD commentary again. That's a nice way to put things, right?
That's a nice way to put things, right?
Yes. And I share the sentiment of the others.
