It's about time we got this thread fired up seeing how Angela is probably my favorite supporting character on the show.
This just in from her most recent MySpace entry: Joel Murphy from HoboTrashcan has posted an interview with Angela Kinsey.
It's strange, but I've come to appreciate Angela and her annoying quirks. She's such a foil to Dwight. Both have this extreme fondness for rules and holding up to certain standards. I didn't realize how deep this characterization is emphasized until I watched the Office Olympics, The Alliance, and Christmas Party episodes. In all of these, Angela demonstrates being a tight-wad, highly rightous, and anal retentive individual. Her snide look to Pam about knowing 'Pam-pong' as a game in Office Olympics is very cut-throat, especially the look she gives Pam later on when she's ticking off another slash in her notebook. Gotta love the Angela stare.
I love Angela too, I used to work with a girl who was a lot like her. I wish the tag line on her topic here though was:
Angela Martin: I really enjoy being judged
:)
Just how great was Angela in this episode? Wow! We really got to see her sensitive side tonight! She actually seemed vulnerable and compassionate and human! I really loved how she reached out to Oscar. What a drastic change from Gay Witch Hunt! Everyone, including me, assumed she'd be in on getting back at Andy but other than saying Andy would have never driven those documents to New York, she was less about vengence and all about Dwight- worrying about him and missing him. It was very sweet. Never thought I'd say that about Angela.
I guess it overshadows it in the sense that it's current and we can reap the benefits of it right now. Woohoo for instant gratification! But that probably belongs in the Dwangela thread.
I get why people dislike Angela, but I don't get the people who think she just isn't funny. (Sorry.) She consistently cracks me up.
I think Angela Kinsey did a superb job this week.
What a fun exploration -- last week she had a HUGE character arc and a lot of emotions to transition between, and this week she got to explore parts of the character that she just doesn't usually get to play.
I can say exactly the same thing about Rainn Wilson. WOW for both of them....I now want to cuddle with both of them, they're so cute and and angry and thorny but in love. Aw.
I loved the moment when she just smiled to herself a little while Dwight destroyed the piñata. Angela takes pleasure from the strangest things.
Wow this is a dead thread. Perfect episode to revive it though. Angela's short woman-clothes shopping bits were hilarious! She shops in the American Girl Doll store!!! Malls are dens of humiliation!!! She really is short, and obviously has no problem laughing at herself. I love when the camera pans to her after Dwight describes suitable women's work attire. It sounded so Amish.
Ah Angela. Please writers, wrap up JAM and bring Ms. Kinsey F&C double time in Season 4.
I though I was going to die when Michael started listing all the different kinds of underwear she could buy in Victoria's Secret. It reminded me of Dwight in The Coup asking Jan what she bought.
Her talking head about doll clothes was probably the only time I've ever laughed out loud at Angela Martin. Well done.
I love when the camera pans to her after Dwight describes suitable women's work attire.
At first, I actually thought that they were having an ironic jab at Pam (which they might have been), but then I realized that, for Dwight at least, it was all about Angela. It's so weird that the only healthy active relationship (as opposed to Phyllis & Bob, or Stanley and his wife, which take place mostly off-screen) on the show is between Angela and frickin' Dwight.
Angela has a long awaited new blog up. She gives an update on Jenna, a recap of her Scranton visit and some other good stuff. The commentaries for the S4 DVD have been recorded, including Jenna via remote. I wondered if they'd have to leave her out or postpone it to include her. Wonder if she was drugged up for it. That could be interesting. Anyway, reason #23,342,803 to love Angela Kinsey.
That is exciting! But man--the comments are amazingly rude.
Is it timed perfectly for the strike or not? I can't decide. Wonder if they'll work it into the story.
I didn't read any of the comments. I'm off to read now.
eta:Wow, they are rude.
I know, I'd love to see a Dwangela baby, I really would. Mostly just for the irony of it all.
You know, Dwight's conscience is such that he would feel obligated to marry her, and Angela would be ashamed to be pregnant and not married. I could see an engagement in the middle of this argument. Kinsey has probably known she was pregnant since... I don't know...September? Maybe it was a plot line already.
Man, I wish we get a chance to see how they write this in. (As if I didn't have enough reasons to want the strike to be over)
Six more months until Angela (Kinsey) is a MILF! I'm sure she will be an awesome mother.
I'll go against the grain and say that I hope they don't write it into the show. In my opinion it doesn't fit her character and wouldn't be funny, too silly sitcommy.
I wonder when in May. Maybe she'll have it on my bday. Then I would have something to talk about if I ever meet John Krasinski.
