i did this in the New Music board the other day when I was board, and because it's not really new music, I feel it deserves it's own thread, basically the idea is to put your comp on "party shuffle" (if you have itunes) or any basic randomizer, and name EVERY song (no excluding guilty pleasures) that plays, It should be fun to see who has what music and who listens to what. So as to not get crazy I figure a list of ten will suffice. I'll start (duh), oh! and an asterick next to a song means HIGHLY recommended
Here's what I listened to on shuffle while on the treadmill today:
I don't know if this is representative of anything more than just how many songs are in my library, collected over so many years and from the combined collections of my wife and I.
Ok, here we go:
We do have a playlist thread somewhere, but I'll play along.
Interesting. At least one of these songs I don't ever remember hearing before (the Gentle Waves one), one of them is a song I don't much like ("Maybe Sprout Wings", by the increasingly-lame Mountain Goats), but the rest of them are all songs I like a lot. Usually when I put on a party shuffle, I have to skip to the next track almost every other time to find somehting I want to listen to.
My Morning Jacket was also on Austin City Limits this week. They look like mountain men! I only have one word for that - rad.
Teach Your Children Well-Michael Scott and Dwight Schrute
Where'd ya find this, Post-it Thief?
Yay Nickel Creek and Decemberists, LookAtThesePurses!.
Because I'm no Mavis Beacon, here's mine. The fact that there are four Christmas songs in the mix indicates that I never use Party Shuffle. Or delete playlists.
Love this idea, Asdfaeou...here goes mine:
You can find it here. I love that site.
I've had it bookmarked forever, but I kind of forgot about it. Thanks!
Just finished this group:
Footnote- the only thing that ever annoyed me about this song is that NBC used it leading up to the "Friends" finale with Ross and Rachel. They do realize the song is about a girl and a guy who are friends and yet in love and never act on it, the guy dies and she is haunted by regret. Yeah....not really befitting for Ross and Rachel, well okay, maybe "Shaun of the Dead" Ross and Rachel.
The party's wild at my place...
Wow, some real dancin' tracks there. I guess Michael Jackson is the only real "party" music there. Maybe Joss Stone.
eta: Oh man, I have to add what's just come up on my list... "Bitter Heart" - Seona Dancing. That was Ricky Gervais' "band" in the early 80s. Classic!
I played "Killer Queen" on Guitar Hero the other night. It's a great song.
"Killer Queen" - Queen
You get two extra cool points for that one.
You get two extra cool points for that one.
Great, so now I have a grand total of 2 points! I'm gonna cash them in for something really nice.
I assume that's because the Schrute Buck is weak against the Unicorn right now?
Only because the Unicornian government has pegged the Unicorn to the Schrute Buck within certain limits. Dwight hates it. For years he was persuing a strong Schrute Buck policy, but he would like the flexibility to weaken the Schrute Buck if he sees fit, so as even out the trade defecit in Hobbits versus Orcs.
Well the bottom dropped out on Stanley Nickels so it's really throwing everything else off. Iran won't even take Dollars or unicorns as oil payments. It's leprechauns, Schrutebucks or nothing.

Can we update this thread? What's on your iPod Party Shuffle Mix now? I'm going to check out some of the songs that you folks mentioned and give them a listen. That's mainly why I want to update this thread. To see what's cool and happening in the music scene. Or should I just check the "New Music" thread for that?
