i did this in the New Music board the other day when I was board, and because it's not really new music, I feel it deserves it's own thread, basically the idea is to put your comp on "party shuffle" (if you have itunes) or any basic randomizer, and name EVERY song (no excluding guilty pleasures) that plays, It should be fun to see who has what music and who listens to what. So as to not get crazy I figure a list of ten will suffice. I'll start (duh), oh! and an asterick next to a song means HIGHLY recommended

  1. What You Meant - Franz Ferdinand
  2. Play The Game - Queen
  3. The Sweetest Goodbye - Maroon 5*
  4. Too Much Food - Jason Mraz
  5. Another Rainy Day - Corinne Bailey Rae
  6. Stoppin the Love - KT Tunstall
  7. Like a Star - Corinne Bailey Rae
  8. All Star - Smash Mouth
  9. Evll and a Heathen - Franz Ferdinand
  10. Waste - Smash Mouth
Jul 16th 2007

  2. Wonderful Tonight (Live) - Eric Clapton
  3. Sweet Misery - Michelle Branch

Wow P-IT complements to yours, nice run their for you.

Jul 16th 2007
  1. "Old Sept Blues", My Morning Jacket
  2. "Love in Vain", Robert Johnson
  3. "Stairway to Heaven (sic)", Camper van Beethoven
  4. "Hey Ladies", Kool Keith
  5. "Where the Streets Have No Name", U2
  6. "Maybe Sprout Wings", The Mountain Goats
  7. "A Chapter in the Life of Matthew", Gentle Waves
  8. "C.R.E.A.M.", Wu-Tang Clan
  9. "Simon Says Get the F%@$ Up", Pharoahe Monch
  10. "Maggie May", Rod Stewart

Interesting. At least one of these songs I don't ever remember hearing before (the Gentle Waves one), one of them is a song I don't much like ("Maybe Sprout Wings", by the increasingly-lame Mountain Goats), but the rest of them are all songs I like a lot. Usually when I put on a party shuffle, I have to skip to the next track almost every other time to find somehting I want to listen to.

My Morning Jacket was also on Austin City Limits this week. They look like mountain men! I only have one word for that - rad.

  1. "Starz", Smashing Pumpkins
  2. "Driving the Last Spike", Genesis
  3. "Bowie", Flight of the Conchords
  4. "Guest Room", The National
  5. "Here I Dreamt I Was An Architect", The Decemberists

  10. "Smile", Digital Black
Jul 17th 2007

Teach Your Children Well-Michael Scott and Dwight Schrute

Where'd ya find this, Post-it Thief?

Jul 17th 2007 edited

Yay Nickel Creek and Decemberists, LookAtThesePurses!.

Because I'm no Mavis Beacon, here's mine. The fact that there are four Christmas songs in the mix indicates that I never use Party Shuffle. Or delete playlists.

You can find it here. I love that site.

  4. "Year of the Sheep" -- Sufjan Stevens
  5. "16 Military Wives" -- The Decemberists

I've had it bookmarked forever, but I kind of forgot about it. Thanks!

Just finished this group:

  1. "Glow" - Alien Ant Farm
  2. "Under the Weather" - KT Tunstall
  3. "Wanted" - Vanessa Carlton
  4. "My Immortal" - Evanessence (read footnote about this song)
  5. "Monster Hospital" - Metric
  6. "Sailed On" - Landon Pigg (on of my all time favorites, it's sad and wonderful and highly recommended all at once.)
  7. "Father Of Mine" - Everclear (nothing has to be said here, everyone already knows)
  8. "If I Fell in Love With You (Live acoustic)" - Maroon 5 (yes, the beatles song, Adam Levine pulls it off)
  9. "Now I'm Here" - Queen
  10. "I'm Your Villain" - Franz Ferdinand

Footnote- the only thing that ever annoyed me about this song is that NBC used it leading up to the "Friends" finale with Ross and Rachel. They do realize the song is about a girl and a guy who are friends and yet in love and never act on it, the guy dies and she is haunted by regret. Yeah....not really befitting for Ross and Rachel, well okay, maybe "Shaun of the Dead" Ross and Rachel.

The party's wild at my place...

  1. "Sonata no.2 in F for Horn and Strings" - Cherubini
  2. "Snakes and Ladders" - Joss Stone
  3. "Where Do I Go?" - Hair, Movie soundtrack
  4. "If You Knew" - Michel Camillo
  5. "She Was Too Good For Me" - Maynard Ferguson & Big Bop Nouveau
  6. "Wind Machine" - Frank Capp & Nat Pierce Juggernaut
  7. "Killer Queen" - Queen
  8. "I Could've Danced All Night" - Jamie Cullum
  9. "Burn This Disco Out" - Michael Jackson
  10. "Something I Can Never Have" - Nine Inch Nails

Wow, some real dancin' tracks there. I guess Michael Jackson is the only real "party" music there. Maybe Joss Stone.

eta: Oh man, I have to add what's just come up on my list... "Bitter Heart" - Seona Dancing. That was Ricky Gervais' "band" in the early 80s. Classic!

Jul 18th 2007

I played "Killer Queen" on Guitar Hero the other night. It's a great song.

Jul 18th 2007

"Killer Queen" - Queen

You get two extra cool points for that one.

Jul 18th 2007

You get two extra cool points for that one.

Great, so now I have a grand total of 2 points! I'm gonna cash them in for something really nice.

Jul 19th 2007

Save up 1000 points and you can trade them in for one Stanley nickel.

Jul 19th 2007

How much would it take to get a Schrute Buck?

Jul 19th 2007

417 unicorns, or about 1,552 leprechauns

Jul 19th 2007

I assume that's because the Schrute Buck is weak against the Unicorn right now?

Jul 19th 2007

Only because the Unicornian government has pegged the Unicorn to the Schrute Buck within certain limits. Dwight hates it. For years he was persuing a strong Schrute Buck policy, but he would like the flexibility to weaken the Schrute Buck if he sees fit, so as even out the trade defecit in Hobbits versus Orcs.

Jul 19th 2007

Well the bottom dropped out on Stanley Nickels so it's really throwing everything else off. Iran won't even take Dollars or unicorns as oil payments. It's leprechauns, Schrutebucks or nothing.

Jul 19th 2007

Can we update this thread? What's on your iPod Party Shuffle Mix now? I'm going to check out some of the songs that you folks mentioned and give them a listen. That's mainly why I want to update this thread. To see what's cool and happening in the music scene. Or should I just check the "New Music" thread for that?
