Discuss all things Pam.

Feb 21st 2006

How can one not love Pam?

Feb 21st 2006

Pam Beesley. With an E.

I love Pam Beesley.

I like what Jenna said in her commentary during the Pilot on the DVD. She mentioned that some guy -- married mind you -- had approached her once and said that he sees Pam as being someone who he could have a crush on.

I totally get what this guy is saying. Jenna Fischer is absolutely gorgeous, but she's

  • 10 years older than I am
  • a celebrity whose star is quickly rising
  • married

Not to mention that I'm in a long-term relationship myself.

But the character of Pam just seems so real. Her age (25, according to the myspace profile) is at the heart of the show's demographic, and she's just really genuine. She's not drop-dead gorgeous, but rather has a natural beauty about her. Yet she doesn't seem unattainable.

I better stop here, because I'm certain that my girlfriend will eventually read this. ;-)

Pam Beesley. With an E.

That's what I thought, too, dlo, but it turns out there's some controversy about this topic. Most articles and official releases from NBC refer to her as Pam Beesly, but Jenna lists her as Beesley on MySpace.

It's all very confusing.

Feb 22nd 2006

Of course by saying that, she was gambling that I wouldn't smack her.

Feb 24th 2006

Perhaps I should have known that this would happen beforehand, but my image of Jenna Fischer as Pam is a little tarnished at the moment. I just watched the God-awful movie Employee of the Month in which Jenna plays a character by the name of Whisper, which is probably all you need to know about what kind of character she played. You can look up the movie on imdb and go to the quotes section and see what I mean when I say that my fragile little mind has been warped.

I'm still looking forward as much as ever to Lollilove in a week and a half, but for now, which episode would any of you say is the best example of Jenna as an innocent, sweet receptionist?

PWJ Thanks for the warning - yikes!, those quotes will curl your hair.

In addition to a "TMI", your post also warrants a lame "Don't Go There" (The Dundies)

Feb 25th 2006

'Tis all true. I just saw the trailer to Lollilove...I don't think I will like it. Jenna...is different... I know, she's an actor. But...Jenna is Pam. Pam is (or is not?) Jenna. I like Pam the way she is, and I can't have a different view about her. It just...it just ruins it!

About Plain White Jim's comments (now known as PWJ, I have a crush on Pam, now. It kind of snuck up on me.

Feb 25th 2006

dlo, the reason I think I'll be able to enjoy Lollilove without it ruining my perception of Jenna. The reason is that it is a complete satire and in real life Jenna (and husband James) is nothing like the character she portrays (which, interestingly enough, has the same name). According to her first tvguide.com insider blog, she "likes to shop at Target and play with [her] dog."

Even after watching Employee of the Month, I can turn on The Dundies or Email Surveillance and remain content and confident that Jenna is more like Pam than any other character she might play.

Feb 25th 2006 edited

just my two cents on her last name...during the episode where michael must stop forwarding jokes, there is a brief moment where you can read the contents of Kevin's inbox....one of the emails is called, like, "RE: Copier's broken" something like that....and the sender is pam beesly...SANS that extra "e"...

the mystery continues

by the way, if her last name is causing so much grief, why doesn't she just change it to "Halpert"? :D

Feb 27th 2006

"The reason is that it is a complete satire and in real life Jenna (and husband James) is nothing like the character she portrays (which, interestingly enough, has the same name)."

Most of the actors and actresses take their actual first names in Lollilove. I think it's a device for making the mockumentary seem more realistic.

I saw the trailer, I'm really looking forward to this one. Pre-order is already done. It's her directorial debut, I really think fans should check this one out.

Feb 28th 2006

Jenna's posted a new entry to her myspace weblog. Is anyone else beginning to favor the RAM union?

Hopefully Jim kept Katy's phone #...

Mar 9th 2006

Does anyone have an idea if we can expect an itunes playlist for Pam? I didn't actually buy anything from Michael, Dwight, or Jim's, but the concept is really clever.

Jenna Fischer - Interview (Conan 03/02/2006)

I captured her interview and encoded to DVD format. Enjoy!

Poor Pam...tries so hard to get kids to like her, and shot down so horribly...

Mar 16th 2006

Great, great talking head at the beginning. "...like the witch in Hansel and Gretel."

Is it just me, or has Pam been looking better and better with each episode? Is she wearing a touch more makeup in an attempt to get noticed by Jim, perhaps? Or is it just that I'm becoming a tad obsessed with my new favorite actress?

Mar 17th 2006

no, pwj, there is a definite difference. the first i noticed it was in a close up at the desk in the last half.

Mar 17th 2006

from jenna's tvguide blog:

in my upcoming movie, I have a scene where I am in lingerie

am i being creepy when i tell you that i wasn't able to read the rest of her article for a few minutes after reading that?

i'm still not fully stabilized after reading that... i would have wanted to watch that movie regardless, but now... i'm trembling...

=)

Mar 17th 2006

edtrash, I wasn't going to bring it up myself, so thank you. My initial reaction was which upcoming movie?

SLiTHER is out at the end of the month, but it wouldn't make sense for her to be in lingerie in a probably minor part of a horror flick, plus that had already finished filming.

So yeah, Blades of Glory it is. I've googled quite a bit, but the only release date I could find was an Australian website suggesting August 17... that seems really soon given that filming was supposed to start this week and I think was pushed back a bit to accomodate a Jon Heder injury.

Mar 17th 2006

You know who else has been looking pretty decent in some shots? A

Angela

Especially in "Dwights Speech"

I hope dwight doesn't come after me with his paintball gun now...

Hey azali... I finally got around to trying to download the Conan interview but got the following message:

The file you requested is temporarily unavailable, due to a problem with the server hosting this file. Our engineers are making repairs and the file will be available as soon as possible. No data has been lost as a result of this hardware malfunction.

Do you have another way to download the file? Thanks!

"I'm still looking forward as much as ever to Lollilove in a week and a half, but for now, which episode would any of you say is the best example of Jenna as an innocent, sweet receptionist?"

Plain White Jim, I think the best example is when she cries when describing the terrace with the garden in "Boys and Girls". That almost had me choked up too!

Oh, and I disagree with you on one thing... I think she is drop dead gorgeous!

Mar 19th 2006

lightyear, I agree wholeheartedly that Jenna Fischer is drop-dead gorgeous. Like, definitely. The character of Pam isn't meant to be, though, although she too is getting more and more attractive.

Mar 19th 2006

Something I've been wondering recently... is Pam (and, perhaps Jim and Dwight) considered a lead character or a supporting character? Emmy nominees are revealed on July 6, and I'm just wondering if I should hope to see Jenna Fischer among the nominees for best lead actress or best supporting actress. Yeah, I may be getting a touch ahead of myself.

Steve Carell's Golden Globe win should make him a shoe-in to be nominated for lead actor. The character of Jim is awesome, and John Krasinski is very good, but I don't know if he deserves an Emmy for it. Rainn Wilson as Dwight on the other hand... that's something special.

I would love to see all four get nominated (with three victories), but I'm rooting for Jenna/Pam the most. Such a fantastic performance week-in and week-out.

Mar 20th 2006

Plain White Jim: I'll check this out and reupload if necessary. Anyone here get a chance to download it?

With all of the discussion of how Pam's last name is spelled....does anyone know what Roy's last name is? I don't recall seeing it or hearing it anywhere.

Oh, I'm new and this is my first post here! My name is Denise and I live in Omaha,NE.

Mar 20th 2006

With all of the discussion of how Pam's last name is spelled....does anyone know what Roy's last name is? I don't recall seeing it or hearing it anywhere.

Roy's last name has NEVER been mentioned on the show. I've looked everywhere trying to identify it, unsuccessfully.

Mar 25th 2006

I'm surprised I didn't make the connection before, but in "Take Your Daughter to Work Day," look at Pam's expression as Jim talks to Abby about her book. Then, in "The Dundies," look at Pam's expression while Jim recaps the awards ceremony (soon before she falls off the stool). Is it just me, or with the exception of the drunken nodding, is that the exact same expression?

Apr 14th 2006

from http://myspace.com/pambeesley,

The correct spelling of my character name is Pam Beesly. It's actually a running joke on the set because the spelling of my last name has changed 3 times since the pilot. In one script, the writers spelled it 3 different ways because even THEY weren't sure which was the correct spelling.

In the first episode it was spelled Beasly. Angela actually bought me a memo pad of paper that said "From the desk of Pam Beasly" as a gift. Then, they changed it to Beesley. This is right around the time I started this MySpace page. Finally they settled on Beesly. I made a stink and said, "No! I like Beesley! With an extra E! I've already started a whole MySpace page and you can't change your URL!" But, I was overrided. Being the star of a show doesn't give you as much power as you'd think! So, the NBC website is correct. It's Beesly.
