Sorry if I'm duplicating threads. I've been trying to keep up with all the posts, but I just started a new job, so please forgive me if I'm redundant.
I guess our favorite cast was back at work today. Does anyone feel like holding our own "board meeting" about the future of the show?
That someobe was call of duty and I don't think he'd appreciate being called an obe.
I don't think he'd appreciate being called some obe. He is more than just some obe. The Obe is more like it.
The Cod abides, Lewbowski style. The Duty, Duty Man, Dutirino, his Dutiness.
Is that being braggy, I don't mean to be braggy. ( I miss our Pam!!)

That's "The Big Cod" and don't ever let anyone tell you differently.
I was thinking about something the other day. Those of you who have been on this forum since the end of Season 2 will remember that we spent the entire summer having meaningful discussions about JAM and what would be the outcome from Casino Night. We were consumed. This year, we are just shooting the breeze, for the most part.
Is it that we don't care as much anymore? Or, is it that we didn't really get a cliffhanger? It seems that most everyone here feels confident that Pam and Jim will be together in Season 4. Is that why? Do most of you think you know where we are heading for Season 4?
I've been thinking of the to my crisper of bread friend, and I've decided this: Season two left us with a left definite answer as to Jim and Pam. We all knew in the back of ours heads in wouldn't happen yet, but our brains wouldn't let us have it so we tried to talk ourselves all summer into thinking that something other than the inevitable would happen. This time leaves little doubt of the next step, thus less discussion.

I feel confident that they will be together and reasonably happy for an extended period into the season at least. At the same time, I wouldn't put it past the show's creators to pull the rug out from under us. So I don't dread that so much as I feel like that would just radically reduce my enjoyment of the show. I've got my Heroes and my 30 Rock coming back. Hopefully there'll be more Conchords to watch. I've got a bunch of DVD shows (Freaks & Geeks, Battlestar) that I never got to in all my "free time" this summer. I'll still watch this show, but I'm not letting my hopes get dashed by a dud of a plot twist.
I also realize Season 2 was just a near-perfect run of TV. They should seal it in amber.
And then later drill into it, steal it's dna and make copies that keep switching gender.

I think we got more of a cliffhanger depending on what perspective you look at. Instead of concentrating on one storyline, we have 4 to 5 to speculate about. JAM would be number 1 on the list. "It's a date". That's all we know. The show is picking up 2 months after the fact. A lot can happen in two months. What's going on with Michael and Jan? Does she move in? Does she completely snap? What's going to happen between Ryan and Michael? Dwangela? So there's a lot left to debate about.

Whoa whoa! are we sure of this? And if we are is that not spoilerish and therefore not belonging here. It's hard enough not to click on that thread...

Rumored from what I know, so since it not fact to my knowledge, did not consider it spoilerific.
big cod
so asdefoofoo, you just started calling call of duty big cod and it kind of stuck, huh?
edit: found my "calling"
eta: see my "calling" was missing
eta: from my sentence.
I think you could argue we got more of a cliffhanger this year, but I think we're also a little a little more cliffhanger-weary than we were then.
asdefoofoo! Yes!

It depends. There are people out in Office fandomland who felt "burned" by some of the events in S3. Those people probably think there are cliffhangers.
I personally think that there are no tricks going on and what we saw at the end of S3 is what we'll see in S4 - Jim & Pam are dating, Ryan is a district manager at Corporate, and Michael and Jan are living together.
I'm with you on that AM J. I don't think "It's a date" left much room for interpretation. I seriously hope not, anyway.
asdefoofoo! Yes!
I second that! asdefoofoo is money!
And much easier to type. Asdefoofoo!

I'm with you as well AMJAKAJLJ. I don't think the beginning of season three was such a trick anyway. It seemed more reasonable then her just saying 'Yes, to hell with Roy!' no matter how badly we wanted it that way.
In that respect, I don't think Greg Daniels and the gang have pulled all that many 'punches' so to speak. And he's said in an interview recently that they aren't on the duplicitous train like the people who cut the trailers.
like Foux de fa fa faaaaa!
I can't remember who posted this link, but thank you. I have shared it with most of my office and it has been the theme song running in my head all week.
sorry asd. little typo there. i'd fix it but its already been quoted a few times.

brian, haven't you seen the leaked script from the first ep? apparently, the writers were told to stretch it out to season 5 so they're saying, like last time, we didnt see all that scene. this is straight from the flashback scene script:
pam: is that a date in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?
jim: its a date.
they'll stop at nothing! i don't think this is going to sit well with the girls on here.
Well that doesn't sound misleading at all. In fact it seems like realistic progression of events. Here's the rest...
Pam: You have no idea how long I wanted to use that "date" joke.
Jim: Me too. I think we're drunk.
Pam: I'm not drunk. So you're really going to take the job in New York, with Karen?
Jim: nods
Pam: Jerk.
