A place to discuss everything about the S3 DVD...

I'm not going to be able to buy it on the release date so I'll have to wait until the following day. I hope that doesn't make me a lesser fan. I think the first thing I'll watch is the bloopers since they were so great on the S2 set. Then I'll probably watch the deleted scenes. I'm hoping there will be more scenes than were shown on the website during the season. I've watched all the reruns this summer so most of the epsiodes are pretty fresh in my mind, so I don't think I'll do a marathon, but I will watch some that weren't re-run, like Traveling Salesman, The Return, Safety Training, and The Convict. Then I'll move on to the commentaries, probably starting with the ones Jenna is on.

I'm disappointed that they aren't releasing it in HD DVD. I wonder if it costs more to produce? The Heroes DVD is available in HD though. Oh well, it will still be worth every penny.

My best friend and I are both taking half days on the day the DVD comes out. We plan on watching all of the commentaries and the extras. Then on that weekend, we are going to do a marathon of each episode with the deleted scene. I wonder if I can hold out on the deleted scenes between Tuesday and Saturday. Probably not. I especially want to see The Job deleted scenes since in the Officetally Mike Schur interview, he said the original cut was 73 minutes long and therefore has a ton of deleted scenes.

I get my wisdom teeth out on September 4th. I'm counting on my anesthesia-induced loopiness to make the season really plot-perfect, so you can probably disregard everything I say that day about the brilliance of Phyllis' Wedding. :) I can't wait for deleted scenes and bloopers!

ETA: Changed from funny, which it really was and I had qualms about saying in the first place, to the more ironic "plot-perfect."

I've been re-watching it in order. You can quarrel with the plot, but you can't say the season wasn't dang funny.

On Office Tally it is reported that somebody picked up a Season Three gift set at Best Buy for $49.99. The price is kind of steep but the gift set includes a lot of other stuff so it is worth the price. I'm not sure how it got released this early.

True. I'll redact my above statement.

That must be it. Check it out at Office Tally. I bet an employee messed up and put it on the shelf too early. I doubt it will be available if we try and get one. I don't know though so it's worth a try.

Aug 27th 2007

That's what I was thinking. Someone told a similar story last year. Money's tight here. I'm going to have to get it where it's cheapest. (But I will get it on Tuesday.)

Aug 28th 2007

Is this the extra-special version you all are talking about? It's $36.50 with free shipping at DeepDiscount.com. I've bought several things there and never had any problems.

Aug 28th 2007

I don't think that's the same. The gift set comes with a Dundie, a Dwight Bobblehead, some stickers, and some rules on DM stationary. I already have a Dundie and a bobblehead so I won't pay extra for those things. One thing I noticed is that there aren't too many audio commentary's. Didn't they do a commentary on every episode in Season Two? I don't mind because I don't care for the commentary's, but I just wonder why.

I'm really glad that they have it in Anamorphic widescreen again this year.

Aug 28th 2007

I wasn't able to get the gift set for last season; they didn't ship to Australia. I'm hoping that's changed this year because I would love to get this year's set, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Didn't they do a commentary on every episode in Season Two?

I just checked my Season 2 DVD; there's only 10 episodes with commentaries: The Dundies, Sexual Harassment, The Client, Performance Review, Christmas Party, Booze Cruise, The Secret, Valentine's Day, Drug Testing and Casino Night.

Aug 28th 2007

That DeepDiscount.com seems to be selling the same set you can get at Amazon for $4 cheaper, unless there are extras I'm just not seeing. I'd like a Dundie, but I already have Dwight bobble head and the other extras don't do much for me. So I'll get the basic set and ask Santa for a Dundie.

Aug 28th 2007

I never get those gift sets. You always think it's going to be cool, but then after you have a Dundie and bobblehead and stuff, you don't really know what to do with it and wonder if you wasted the money you could have saved just buying what you REALLY wanted in the first place, which was the DVD.

Aug 28th 2007

but then after you have a Dundie and bobblehead and stuff, you don't really know what to do with it

I have all of my cool stuff displayed in my home office. It's the best home office ever and I get lots of nice comments.

Aug 28th 2007

Looking forward to September 4th for two reasons: my morning class is cancelled because the university figured that everyone would be hungover after the bigtime game the preceding night (it's gonna be on ESPN), and the release of this, which I should be able to get with a check.

Now watch me accidentally drive off a cliff or burst into flames while waiting in line for the DVD ;-p

Aug 28th 2007

Money is extremely tight right now, but the wife knows this is a must have so I've been given the greenlight to splurge, but I'll probably stick with just the dvd, not the gift set. Think I'll watch the commentaries and bloopers first. With the kiddo keeping me up until 2:30a.m. for shift change with the wife, I'll have plenty of time to watch. Nick @ Nite is getting old real fast. It would be awesome if it came out on HD, but can't complain, only 1 week left!

Aug 28th 2007

I'm getting the giftset because I want a Dundie to go along with my bobblehead in my office. That and I have a $40 Best Buy giftcard that my sis gave me for my bday specifically for this so I will only have to pay $10 or so out of pocket. Yay for giftcards! Also, my best friend and I decided that since we are already going to have Monday off because of Labor Day, we might as well take Tuesday off and enjoy a four day weekend topped off with an all day Office Tuesday.

Aug 28th 2007

Lots of cool info about the set on Office Tally.

Sounds like Target will have an edition that has a Q & A from Paley Fest that won't be on the Best Buy edition and is about $10 cheaper. I can't decide but am leaning towards the Best Buy set because I think I deserve a Dundie.

Aug 28th 2007

I came here to say the same thing that AlphaMale just said.

I am not going to buy the S3 DVD for a while. I might even wait until I can get a S2/S3 combo or something. I will definitely be renting S3 to see the blooper reel/deleted scenes/extra JAM moments, but I think I can definitely hold out.

I still don't have the S2 DVD's. I watch all the Office I can on the internet. Am I the only one on NA who has yet to purchase S2? Am I less of a fan?

Aug 28th 2007

I got S2 as a gift, and I was very, very happy about it, but I still might not have it. I bought S1 with a gift card to Target that I was going to spend on boring necessities and splurged instead. I don't think you are less of a fan at all. It's the experience that counts, not the medium, right?

Daoust gives KarenM a hug, and whispers in her ear, "Thank you."

Daoust then asks KarenM "Do you have something in your pocket?"

Aug 28th 2007

Shouldn't that be my question to you?

Aug 28th 2007

Well, I kind of put my heart out on my sleeve, and so that makes me Pam.

You accepted me and built me up for doing so, that makes you Michael.

So I hugged you and said thanks.

Then I, as Pam, ask if you've.... ooooOH. Now I get it.

I should already know the answer to that question...or hope I know it.

Aug 28th 2007

Anyone can have a Chunky in their pocket, so to speak.

Aug 28th 2007

I chose to believe it was a roll of quarters for laundry day.

Aug 28th 2007

If you drive of a cliff while waiting in a line I'll be truly impressed.

David Blaine, watch your back, the Two-Hole punch is on the warpath!

Aug 29th 2007

A special gift set? ARGH! I already ordered just the discs from Amazon! This is dumber than Jim asking for a pay decrease!

Aug 29th 2007 edited

So cancel it. That's only what 34,000 people, who pre-ordered last year before the gift sets came out, did.
