Like WBHF.

Nice.

NAftacos would also be acceptable. Though not as an acronym.

Dec 16th 2009

Speaking of tacos, I've developed quite the cravings for Taco Hell lately. I blame you, bone.

WBHF

Am I reading that correctly? Is that a synonym for "everybody's mom?"

I blame you, bone.

That's What She Said.

Dec 16th 2009

WBHF

This one pre-dates me a bit, but if I may, it means Whole Body High Five.

Thanks. I was obviously way off base.

Dec 16th 2009

I blame you, bone.

You're welcome. Taco Bell does sound good, doesn't it?

Dec 16th 2009

Actually, it sounds better than pizza right now, which is what my office is having for a pre-holiday luncheon. I've eaten too much pizza lately and the thought of eating it again in an hour is making me slightly nauseous.

Dec 16th 2009

I've been thinking about Taco Bell lately, too. Partly because there aren't any near here.

Dec 16th 2009

NAftacos

boinkenberry JAM

I believe a close reading of the historical record will confirm that I coined both of these.

Dec 16th 2009 edited

Yesh, you did.

Also, you should know that a Whole Body High Five refers to sex. Of the sexual kind. Of sex.

Dec 16th 2009

It's a very funny term because it's a very accurate descriptor.

Dec 16th 2009

WBHF stems from NA Hall of Famer ST, I believe.

Dec 16th 2009

Her presence is missed.

Dec 16th 2009

We're having our holiday luncheon today too - I saw some crockpots full of ham. Not sure what else they're serving.

Dec 16th 2009

I believe you may be correct, go-bone. And I know Bri is correct.

Dec 16th 2009

WBHF stems from NA Hall of Famer ST, I believe.

I'm thinking it was from another long-lost poster, Emmyjean.

Dec 16th 2009

Well someone look it up!

Dec 16th 2009

Well, Emmyjean coined the concept, but gb switched the words around.

Dec 16th 2009

So call of duty moved that it be enshrined in law, and you seconded that emotion.

Dec 16th 2009

You know who I miss, aside from ST and call of duty? chase that feeling. I liked that guy.

Dec 16th 2009

TO101 is gone also. I kept expecting her to come back, but she never did.

Dec 16th 2009

Yeah but now you have awesome new people like me and TTP.

Dec 16th 2009 edited

Yeah. That's true.

I wonder if ctf or ST are coming back.

Just kidding bc.

Jim fumbling through managing for me is not relatable and not really funny. Jim does something, everyone hates him, lather rinse repeat. If it were one or the other maybe it would work for me.

I dunno, I thought the Employee of the Month thing was horrible and unbelieveable, but several of the episodes I've liked this part of the story and I can relate to Jim's predicament. I thought Jim's frustration in Koi Pond was very believeable and funny. Being under someone who cannot delegate sure got some empathy from me, and I think I hurt something laughing at Michael tying Jim's tie. Also, being promoted above a bunch of coworkers often leads to real problems with respect from them, and I thought Jim's solution for Ryan was hilarious. I like the arc okay as long as they don't make Jim out of character stupid.

Dec 17th 2009

You mean OOC? smiley face

Dec 17th 2009

You mean OOC?

Yup. snork

They've already failed this test a couple of times for me.

There's an article in my most recent issue of Macleans with the tit le of: "Why no one likes Jim anymore". I wanted to link to it, but apparently it's not up on the site right now. So until that happens, here are some snippets:

  • Poor Jim Halpert on The Office: with the exception of his wife, no one likes him anymore.

  • Fans are starting to notice: TV.com picked Jim and Pam as the two most annoying characters on TV,

  • One moment that especially infuriated fans was when Jim decided to try to get some respect by openly humiliating the insubordinate Ryan, making him literally work in a closet. (Really? I wasn't infurated.)

  • An even darker undercurrent of the new season is the idea that Jim has no life beyond the office, and probably never will.

  • When the US version of The Office began, there was a sense that someone like Jim might be able to look forward to a brighter future. Now we know this is the best he can expect, and he seems to sense it, too...it might be that Jim is starting to reflect how terrible the world is.

Comments? Criticisms? Clearly the author of this article appears to not really be a fan of the show, but chose rather to gather snippets about what's going on from other websites.

Me neither. Whatevs.

An even darker undercurrent of the new season is the idea that Jim has no life beyond the office, and probably never will.

This kind of thing would appeal to me, but I don't get that at all. If anything, that's part of what made the early seasons so good, that vein of despair.

I think you're right about the writer's knowledge of the show. You'd have to have seen the arcs that Ryan's character has taken to know that sticking him in a closet not only isn't infuriating but actually desirable.
