I think some time traveler really messed with the time-space continuum at some point.

I just watched 11/22/63, the mini-series based on the Stephen King book (book was better, but the series was alright, especially if you've never read the book.) Anyhow, when the main character saves JFK, things don't exactly turn out rosy.

Guys, there are still days when I, a Canadian, somewhat removed from your politics, and yet still impacted, still see the news and am absolutely dumbfounded at the fact that Donald Trump is the President of the United States!

I literally had one of these moments yesterday.

Jan 26th 2017

I saw the interview last night from the White House, and seeing him talking in the Oval Office was a moment that really seemed surreal.

We have a foreign exchange student from Belgium living with us, and she thinks President Trump is pretty crazy, too. We try to explain to her that while we might agree with a lot of things that he does, we are still wincing and hiding our eyes at a lot of things that he says.

That interview was weird...I KNOW that he must be really good at doing things based on the things he's done in his life, but he sure doesn't articulate himself well. Sometimes I think he must say stupid things on purpose, kind of like a magician distracting you over here while he is hiding the coin over there. While he was distracting us all to talk about crowd sizes (which is pretty stupid, who cares?) he was signing about ten executive orders that didn't get nearly as much press.

Hey Daoust, Canada has Kevin O'Leary from Shark Tank as it's Trumpian candidate! He should get red hats that say "Make Canada warm again"

Jan 26th 2017

The first few episodes have been about as warmly received by fans as a Season 7 re-watch.

Jan 27th 2017

I'd say this is a Season 8 level crap show.

Feb 8th 2017

That just made me really sad to watch.

Feb 25th 2017

You guys! I wish I could turn off the country whilst I run around and find all the intelligent reasonable people who are willing to admit that everyone would rather hear news with confirmation bias, and instead try to fight the tide of bullshit together.

I'm living in 2009. On one hand, the political situation is much less nerve wracking, but on the other, this season of The Office is terrible

Hey guys! Long time no talk. So... what's new?

Seriously though, what in the world is happening? America is on crazy pills!

Things in Canada are pretty good these days. A tad less insane and racist than you guys currently, so that's good.

Guys. I'm seriously worried for you.

Aug 16th 2017

Hey Daoust. I don't think there are any humans left on this board.

Spoiler alert: I'm a bot.

Aug 16th 2017

Guys. I'm seriously worried for you.

Us, too. Us, too. Well, those of us who possess both a brain and a heart are, anyway.

Aug 19th 2017

So, um, Canada. Are you guys handling all the refugees from our side of the border ok? And... are people born in the US eligible for refugee status?

Jun 12th 2018

This looks like it could have either been a Michael Scott Joint (Great Scott!), or a production of Entertainment 720.

Oct 12th 2018

So, two years in under a Trump presidency, how are things going down there?

Say what you want, you guys kinda won NAFTA 2.0, even if it only brings you modest gains, and that's thanks to Trump. People are NOT happy with JT up here based on how we came out of those negotiations.

Thoughts?

Oct 13th 2018

For some reason, our local economy is actually picking up recently. Trump? Dunno. Whatevs.

Oct 14th 2018

Rochester has always lagged behind the rest of the country economically, but things are going well here. I think that generally the president gets too much credit OR blame for the economy, but...the economy, and trade deals in particular, are the ONE thing I thought Trump would be good at, so he better excel at it.

Oct 17th 2018

I'm shocked that my pro-Trump post didn't bring people out of the NA shadows to agree with me.

Oct 17th 2018

Eh, he's kind of a tool. Maybe if you had posted that, people would have agreed?

Oct 17th 2018

Conservatives generally don't post political opinions on the internets. They know the rules.

Things are about to get a whole lot worse.

Everything is fine. throws up. Hello, anxiety, my old friend.

Seriously. What’s everybody’s coping plan today? gets our own to take notes

Hey friends! I had a suspicion this election would bring some of you back to that same old place that you laughed about (and at). And all it took was one buzzed Anque proving the theory that all women are two beers away from a NA post. Anyway good to hear from you all. This election sure is crazy. Regardless of who wins, I’m just going to say I’m pretty happy to be here, tucked away in remote eastern Canada. Things are still pretty good here at least for the time being. If you guys could not ruin it for everyone, in Canada and your own county for starters, that’d be great. COVID sucks here too but not as bad for me personally as some of you experienced. I just haven’t been able to see my family since March, and it’s not looking great until after next March. It’s nice to have text and FaceTime, but that is only supposed to be a temporary measure. Anyway, thanks for dropping in and commenting A and the rest of you too!

We're glad you're there too. It's what unites us. Boom! Roasted!

Seriously, so much emotion and personal pain is wound up in election returns and sick Twitter burns. It's time we put all that aside, accept the will of the people and move on. The results are not in doubt, and challenges are only worthwhile if they highlight misdeeds whose cure will only strengthen our democratic processes. Meanwhile, let's rejoice that the system worked, that we once again aired our differences and let the ballot box be the determinant of our shared future. It ensures our ability to come together as one American people, committed to our future and willing to put aside grievances and throw our support behind our new leader, Mitch McConnell.

The one takeaway from this election is that I learned there are far too many low level flunkies who can gum up the works with almost no accountability. Certification boards and GSA administrators should be neither seen nor heard.
