Is it worth getting the DVDs though anyway?

Apr 28th 2008

Yes

Apr 28th 2008

leaving obsessives like us to speculate endlessly.

And giving Daniels, the writers and cast hours of free entertainment as they lurk here.

Kind of like watching the monkeys at the zoo. :-)

Apr 28th 2008

I'd say so. The commentaries are very fun to listen to, especially the writer's takes. Although several of the actors are really bad, and sometimes a writer will be in the middle of an interesting angle, and the actor will interrupt "Here's where I walk through the door!"

Does this mean we can start throwing poo at each other?

Yep. Leslie and Melora: I love you, but shut the hell up.

What do you think I'm doing right now?

Yep. Leslie and Melora: I love you, but shut the hell up.

More Krasinski and Fischer please.

Oh yeah, and on the DVD front it looks like I can't play the Region 1 DVDs over here, and the Region 2 ones do not have any extra features on them. In fact you can't even get Season 3 here yet.

Apr 28th 2008

Start?

I knew that would be the response, and I didn't care, because I wanted to say "poo." So, poo.

Apr 28th 2008

Glad you got that out of your system, gb.

Poo.

And before someone else says it, I realize the level of my discourse in this post is on par with my other posts.

Apr 28th 2008

Poo

I expected some poo, just not this much.

Apr 28th 2008

Yeah, it's raining from the cielings. Poo!

Apr 28th 2008

I expected some poo, just not this much.

That's what Eva Braun said.

Leslie and Melora: I love you, but shut the hell up.

Oh my goodness, yes. What a waste of commentary space.

Apr 28th 2008

Melora redeems herself somewhat in The Job, but that's about it.

Somewhat, but she has a lot to answer for before that. Leslie on the other hand....

Writer: The inspiration from this scene came from-
Leslie: Here's where I get some coffee
Writer: What you can't see in this shot is that Pam's boobs are-
Leslie: Now I'm walking to my desk.

I've never even watched the S3 commentaries, mostly because I've heard from you folks how bad they are.

Apr 28th 2008

I found them more disappointing than bad.

Apr 28th 2008

But some of them are really interesting. BJ is really good on them. The writers are always insightful. John, for some reason, isn't very talkative, but always has good things to say. Jenna is excellent, but isn't on many of them this year. Steve was excellent in Season 1 commentaries, but now is too busy shooting movies in the summer. Rainn seems like he tries too hard to be funny on the commentaries.

Apr 28th 2008

The "Safety Training" one is ok, with Novak, Kaling, and Harold Ramis.

Apr 28th 2008

I did enjoy safety training, Mindy says something really nice about John which I enjoyed.

Apr 28th 2008

I found them more disappointing than bad.

So actually I don't need to worry about missing out on them then?

Apr 28th 2008

I think they're worthwhile, despite Melora's tireless self-promotion. The commentary for The Job I found really worth listening to.

Apr 28th 2008

What an office obsessed friend of mine in france did was buy a cheap-o DVD player from ebay off someone living in america, who agreed to ship it overseas. The DVD player was Regioned for America, and therefore could play the DVD's.

Apr 28th 2008

I don't know the expense, but there are region-free players as well.

Apr 28th 2008

Is it just me, or does everyone else hate the pointless DVD Region system?

Apr 28th 2008

When she worked out the prices, she actually took the less expensive way.

Is it just me, or does everyone else hate the pointless DVD Region system?

Like most things, probably everyone but those making money off of it.

I second this. Also the S2 commentaries are slightly better than S3.
