Test for AMJ: what episode had the scene where Michael made everyone feel really uncomfortable?

Apr 30th 2008

"Which episode didn't?" might be tougher.

Dunder Mifflin Infinity and Launch Party are a blur in my mind. I can't keep straight what happened in each one.

How can you forget Andy's rendition of Take a Chance? Please tell me you didn't forget that. Ed Helms was amazing in that scene. The look of "Please hear me out" was spot on. I loved that scene.

How about:

  • “you’re so money and you don’t even know it… but you do.”

  • “you need awesome lessons”

  • “I guess he can’t get any girl he wants.”

  • “You guys are together? My heart soars with the eagle’s nest.”

  • Meredith’s crotch

  • "brain grandchild"

  • DunMiff/sys is self-aware

  • "Tie goes to the girlfriend"

Apr 30th 2008

Are you kidding? The Toby moment alone is worth not being last. I don't understand the hive mind over there.

I don't think it's a hive mentality as much as a younger demographic than here.

Apr 30th 2008

Well, mtt is skewing our age demographic quite a bit.

To add to Madge's list:

  • The whole DVD screensaver and how adorable Pam was while saying this in her TH: "I saw it. I saw it, and it was amazing! Who said I didn't see it? Did Jim say that I didn't see it? I saw it!"
  • "Ryan has a gay crush on me"
  • collared paper
  • "Pam is the office matress"
  • Take that machine!
  • Zipideedodah!
  • Garbage
  • Fancy new whatever
  • Dwight being salesman of the year 13 months in a row getting two plaques instead of a pay raise.
  • These are spoons, Phyllis. They have rounded tops so you can scoop stuff.
  • Hot circle of garbage
  • One of my favorite Andy quotes: "I know this is weird because we work together, and up until and possibly now I've repulsed you, but I like you."
  • "Why don't you take that memo and roll it up real tight..."
  • Bearded Man Boy and Little Old Man Boy
  • DM's old website
  • The whole Jim/Pam conversation in the kitchen where Jim tells Pam about Dwight and Angela expecting Pam to be surprised but she already knew. "We should have started dating a long time ago".

I think my issue with some of this season's episodes is that all of them have some great stuff in them, but it seems like a lot of them have quite a few misses in them as well.
For example, I chose "The Deposition" as a favorite episode of this season, and completely forgot about the ping-pong stuff, which I thought was ok, but not a complete classic.

Apr 30th 2008

Man, I wish I'd gotten to that Season 4 marathon like I'd planned before new episodes started. I remember all those things, and I'm thinking this season is already far superior to last on a lot of levels. But can't make differentiate the episodes in my head.

Another thing about those OT rankings is that while there are a lot of people voting and probably not a lot of multiple votes (since people tend not to bother, generally), the spread between the best and worst is only 1.65 points. That doesn't seem very wide. Basically it says to me that most people who voted really liked all the episodes but they kind of liked "Chair Model" and "Money" a bit more than "Night Out" and "Survivorman", both of which they still also really liked a lot.

"We should have started dating a long time ago".

Great list, Limonada. How could I forget that one?

I love this season mainly because S3 was so painful and we have the PB&J bonus. I wasn't excited about the ping pong subplot of TD but I loved Pam and Kelly and the tag with Dwight and Mose. Survivor Man wasn't a favorite of mine but Jim's supervising snafu and Michael's return was great. Dinner Party was bizarre on first watch but I think it is hilarious now. I know a lot of people didn't like Night Out but I would rate it as one of the best of this season. So, different strokes.

Apr 30th 2008

I liked Night Out so much more after my 3rd viewing than with my first. I didn't realize how many funny lines I missed the first time. Toby doesn't even make me feel icky anymore. He's not a perv. He's just got some issues. It was a great episode.

Apr 30th 2008

I don't think it's a hive mentality as much as a younger demographic than here.

I think I'm part of the younger demographic here, and I thought Night Out was one of the best of the season, so I'll try to balance out mtt and sway the young vote. (If that made any sense.)

Apr 30th 2008

I'll try to balance out mtt

Some jobs are just too big, e-star.

so I'll try to balance out mtt and sway the young vote

If were going by age, you have to be like three months old to swing mtt's vote.

Oh, snap yo!

Apr 30th 2008

Oh, look! My friends are showing their love for me.

Again.

Apr 30th 2008

And where's VG when we need her? Us AARP-types have to stick together.

Apr 30th 2008

What is AARP?

Apr 30th 2008

Well, I guess people thought "Old Farts of the World, Unite!" didn't sound good, so...

Apr 30th 2008

;)

Apr 30th 2008

The whole Jim/Pam conversation in the kitchen where Jim tells Pam about Dwight and Angela expecting Pam to be surprised but she already knew. "We should have started dating a long time ago".

So can anyone explain to me why they cut this out of the online episode? The scene now starts with Phyllis entering the room. It better be back on the DVD. Oh, mtt I got your back. They give you any trouble I'll hit them with my walker.

Apr 30th 2008

Oh, mtt I got your back. They give you any trouble I'll hit them with my walker.

We'll pelt them with Depends boxes and old Viagra bottles until they run for cover!

Apr 30th 2008

We'll pelt them with Depends boxes

And the used Depends themselves? But...but...feces will be raining from the skies!

So can anyone explain to me why they cut this out of the online episode? The scene now starts with Phyllis entering the room.

Really? I haven't watched it online. I still have it saved on the dvr.

Apr 30th 2008

So, mtt, somebody at work called me a "geezer" this week. Maybe I qualify as an AARP-type? Old-fart just makes me wince.

Apr 30th 2008

I was expecting a lot more from the reveal scene than what we got.

That's very gallant DC, just don't fall and break a hip.

Sure, U...g! The more the merrier! And remember... all the young punks will be AARP-types someday. If they're lucky!

Apr 30th 2008

Ok, thanks! I'll plan to hurl my pill box at any one that takes another shot at you.

Apr 30th 2008

Hear that, whippersnappers! There's gonna be a changing of the guard here at NA. So shape up!

Also, stand up straight! Take your hands out of your pockets! Eat your vegetables! And look at me when I'm talking to you!

mtt, did I forget to add this? :D Insults, unfortunately, are free here and you take it so well. Mostly.

What is AARP?

I think that's what you do when you run into a discussion about pus.
