Like that time she ruined "Son of a Preacher Man" for the rest of eternity?
I know this thread is janked up and maybe no one cares, but here is Alan Sepinwall's interview with Paul Lieberstein about the upcoming season. I'm not seeing a whole lot of recognition of the problems of last season, but maybe with the focus of writing Michael off the show they can avoid going so over the top this year.
Looking back over last season, how do you feel it went?
Last season? I think we had a strong season.
Yikes.
I care, but nothing that interview gave me a super warm and fuzzy feeling. I really like Timothy Olyphant, but I'm not too sure how well he fits the show.

Yeah, the only thing I'm hoping for is that they have seen some of the criticism floating around out there and are trying to correct it. Olyphant could be good, but I hope it's not just a single episode. I do want to give him a prize for "Recognizing an Obvious Failure" for this:
Jim as the boss wasn't quite as fun as Jim as the prankster. So we pulled back from that.
I'm actually a bit surprised he asked a few tough questions. Very rarely see that kind of questioning at an event like that, especially of a show that has been so popular for so long. It's certainly dropped off but what show hasn't when it's been on the air this long?
I wouldn't really expect one of the guys in charge of the show to say too much negative about it. That does nothing positive for your career. I was even surprised that he rightfully admitted Manager Jim wasn't funny.
From Jenna's myspace blog (so, that's still going on, huh?):
You will not want to miss the very first scene of the season. I don’t want to give away too much but remember that amazing scene where Dwight sets the office on fire? Where the whole office goes crazy? It's one of those openings.
sigh

That spoiler was as distressing as it was unsurprising, but this set-up was the real weird news.
Also, is this thread slowly catching up with its page count, or is it always going to be four pages longer than it should be?
I think it's always going to be 4 pages longer. Seems like when it went to 308, it also went to 312.
Good thing Mr. Fischer found someone to produce his play. What luck!

I know. He must have really had to sell it.
Well, since everyone seems to wandered off to Facebook, I thought I'd post a link to this interview with Paul Lieberstein about Season 7 and Steve Carell's departure. It sounds like pulling Holly Flax out at the end of the season was a response to them finally realizing Carell was only going to be there for one more season.
You know I always do that, say Amy Adams when I mean Amy Ryan.
We've talked about bringing Amy Adams back, too.
I hope they don't bring Purse Girl back. That would just be celebrity casting at this point.
The last post above this one is on page 308, but now there is a 313. Weird. Could this be the first post on 309? Or are we now five pages into the Twilight Zone? Only time, and pressing "Add your comments" will tell...
eta Five pages.
Yeah, navigating around here is a mess. Still, I thought I should post this latest tidbit:
Question: Many fans of The Office are concerned that Pam dated Timothy Olyphant’s character post-Roy and pre-Jim. Is this the case? Is Jim just finding out about it now? —Matt
Ausiello: Yes to all of the above! According to executive producer Paul Lieberstein, Pam dated Olyphant while Jim was with Karen. “Everyone in the office makes a big deal of it, and we get into Jim’s jealousy a little bit,” he says. “It bothers him a little.”
This strikes me as more retro-character detail, like Pam's volleyball skills. Her dating in S3 might have been interesting to see at that time, not three and a half years later.
I don't know. I can imagine that he wouldn't have known then and could just be finding out now. And maybe I'm just hoping for more than I should, but I think that it could work on, well, a show. Maybe not the show.
I'm probably expecting too much, though.

Aarrrgh, this pisses me off. Ever since it happened I've said they should have Pam casually date someone in the middle of S3. And now they're going to retroactively say she did but they never showed or mentioned any of it? Buncha crap. Only the fact that Olyphant is awesome can save this.
So it's all going to be shown in flashbacks? Or is Olyphant's character going to show up in real time and bring up old stuff? Clearly, I've missed something.
