Hey nightowl are you English? So am I! Do I have a fellow countryman with me here?
Belated welcome, 05.05.05 and nightowl. We love non-USAers here the way that the football players loved Corey Haim in this movie. Welcome!
No, I live by the principle: Early bird gets the worm, second mouse gets the cheese. I've always preferred cheese over worms.
Oh! I get it! Because the first mouse is killed by the trap!!
oh. that's kinda sad, now I wish I hadn't gotten it.
Thank you all for the warm welcome.
Hey nightowl are you English?
Nope, though I have lived in grand old Manchester for a year, and it rocked.
I'm hoping nightowl is a Spaniard.
Nope, hate to disappoint you. Never even been to Spain, though it is on my wishlist.
Thought the cheese might be a clue. I'm actually from the same country as Gouda and Edam cheese, the Netherlands. Hope that's cleared it up.

Somewhere somehow, I feel a bit insulted, but that may be the cultural divide.

To Amsterdam!

But I kinda like the music.
(anyone old enough to recognize that? Please say yes.)

sheepishly raises his hand...

Don't worry, you get used to it.

It could be worse. You could be from Kansas.
Oh, and by the way, welcome!

I'll start working on that now.
Captain, raise the deflector shield.
And done.
nightowl, what you will find in the Northern Attack Americans will, at first, seem quite offensive. However, you will find that underneath the farce, we are intelligent, self-deprecating human beings who love to stir (or make fun of, as it were) the melting pot. We must deceive our non-USA NAers by humiliating them. In that way, we honor them. Understand?
Also, USA! USA! USA!
I should have known you were Dutch by the fact that your English is better than everybody else's.
Here in northern Minnesota (where there is currently a FOOT of snow), we have accents. And punctuation.
Here in Oregon, we have no accent in particular, but we also have punctuation. And we use our entire keyboards when we type.
I've noticed we now have an awesome and a dawesome. Confusion anyone?
Oh shoot...
Oh shoot...
No, no. It's not a problem at all. It will just make for some freaky conversations is all.

My boyfriend comes from Madchester and I have spent a ton of time there. So at least we have that in common.

Welcome to my world nightowl.
