It's not really clear what it would take to get Jim to get in someone's face about harassing Pam.

Maybe if Roy got in her face and/or made her cry, Jim would get in Roy's face. Maybe it's just my wishful Roy-hating self who thinks that, but it would be nice to see. I'd even watch a Jim vs. Roy smackdown on Pay-Per-View.

Jan 22nd 2009

No, I agree LT I think if Roy upset Pam, Jim would fight him. I could see it happening. I kind of want to see that now too.

Me too, and I think Jim could kick his ass. I know Roy is bigger, but Jim is quicker and has a long reach. Perhaps I've given too much thought to this.

No, you haven't. I totally agree. Plus, Jim is a lot smarter. If they wrestled and then played a game of Boggle, Roy would totally get his ass whipped twice. It would be a win-win.

Word!

If they wrestled and then played a game of Boggle

I think NBC just found its newest reality show.

Ah, lemoñadé out!

Nice to see Agent Scarn again...

Jan 22nd 2009

I think Hilary Swank is pretty in a non-traditional way. I do.

Please note that Mr. Prince had a "World's Best Boss" coffee mug on his desk.

Jan 22nd 2009

noted.

Jan 22nd 2009

Since when did Dwight start undermining Michael to this extent?

Jan 22nd 2009

Bad feed...missed most of it. Eff.

I noticed that too! I'm surprised Michael didn't catch that...

Initial thoughts about this episode: Michael broke my heart. I don't think I've ever felt sadder for him.

Jan 22nd 2009

I've never felt sadder for the Prince Family... maybe because I never met them until now.

Also. Hilary Swank it NOT hot.

Jan 22nd 2009

Agreed. Hilary Swank is NOT hot.

Jan 22nd 2009

Solid episode. Better than "good, not great," I think. I liked both plots, and both were funny. I also liked Michael's bittersweet monologue and his realization about what he was doing to the Princes.

Jan 22nd 2009

Kevin was awesome tonight.

Besides the Swank determination, I loved how this ended. Thank God they didn't find a way to let Michael off the hook. This was dark, dirty and really tragic in the true sense of the word. He has only himself to blame. Dwight enabled it, but Michael is responsible and he knows it. And the funny thing is, Prince Family Paper is exactly the company, the life and the world Michael would create if he wasn't so socially inept. It's everything he means to be, yet stumbles his way away from. But never like this before. Never. All he has going for him in this instance is his remorse, but all the pity he elicits can't make him the victim. And they could so easily have pulled back at the end and in some way short circuited the inevitable saving the Princes. It's to the show's credit that they didn't. This episode will be so much more memorable now that they didn't.

I'm pretty jaded about this show these days, and I hold it to a high bar. That said, bravo.

I thought it was “World’s Best Dad”.

You could tell this was a Novak episode. I need to rewatch to get all of the quotes. Respect the game.

Jan 22nd 2009

Great summary CGB. Have you ever thought about writing about the show, maybe in a place where you could get a lot of people to read your thoughts? I liked it anyway, but reading that gave me a greater appreciation. That said, it did not overwhelm me, I do put it in the "good not great" category, it's not going to be one I watch over and over again. It was definitely a Novak episode, subtler humor. I was actually surprised at the Michael/Dwight "chase" scene/wrestling match, that type of broad humor is usually not in one of his. Funniest part by far was Michael Scarn, who is a hell of a secret agent. The lip licking was good too, as was Michael's math skillz. The Hillary Swank plot was good, I guess. Nothing bad about it but nothing great either. It felt a little too much like an argument in the writer's room brought to life.

Jan 22nd 2009

That's interesting. I could almost see how this episode might have been more of a theoretical "what if" kind of exercise. Like, what if Michael did something really horrible, maybe not entirely intentionally, and had to live with that? Or, What if Stanley, faced with his own mortality, embraced the fugly countenance of America's homeliest former karate kid?

This all makes me ponder something which I probably shouldn't talk about in this thread.

Jan 22nd 2009

Looks like they are building towards something very interesting happening to Michael career-wise. I hope so, that could really be fascinating.

Jan 22nd 2009

You are such a socialist.

Jan 22nd 2009

I liked the episode for its lack of relationship drama. It's been awhile (Business Ethics maybe?) since that has happened. Not a lot of laugh out loud moments, but still well executed. It was interesting that Wallace brought up the unfilled Regional Supervisor position. I did love Pam's line about Kevin not even having full internet privileges.

Jan 22nd 2009

Seriously, what happened to Dwight since he met Jan for breakfast that IHOP is now a command economy eatery?

Jan 22nd 2009

I wonder if Hilary Swank watches the show. Probably not after tonight, huh?
