On the down-side, they suck and are destroying quality television.

I concur.

quality television

Is that one of those ox morons?

I mean, you don't need to pay any actors or pay for sets or decoration,
or writers. All you need are some researchers, cameramen and editors.

"If we could just get rid of these actors and directors, maybe we've
got something."
-Tim Robbins in The Player

The silence is deafening.

All right, so today I watched "The Return," and it's not really a mistake, but I realized that the set designers/prop people are getting lazy. Why? Because in "The Return," they made the weather look like how I imagine Pennsylvania to look like in Jan/Feb, but in recent episodes, it's like they don't really try that hard.

Not really a mistake, but I thought I should point that out...

I mean, seriously, the show has a bigger budget than it did in s2 and s3, but s2 and s3 had snow when it was supposed to snow...

And I'm done nitpicking.

I watched Branch Closing last night and I now wonder where exactly is Cugino's? In Jim's famous deleted scene TH he says:

It was a lunch date, actually, it was right down here, at Cugino's.

But in Branch Closing when Phyllis is trying to arrange a farewell lunch we get this exchange:

Kevin: How about Cugino's?
Angela: I don't want to go all the way to Dunmore.

Jan 25th 2009

Dunmore is like five minutes' drive from downtown Scranton. Angela was just being a bitch.

The silence is deafening.

The moment is devastating.

Just after Jim reads off the list of stuff for Kelly's party, Dwight is struggling to tie a grey balloon. In the next shot it's a brown balloon that flicks in his hand.

Remember after Survivor Man, and people (on other sites, mostly) were like, "OMG, Meredith's birthday isn't in the fall, it's in the spring!" (based on air dates). If you go off of that logic, Kelly's birthday was also mentioned in Survivor Man as being the week before. I guess there's more glaring continuity issues than that now.

Feb 13th 2009

That never bothered me in and of itself, but it bothers me that such an easily verified detail could be mistaken. It's lazy. It makes me feel the people writing the show aren't as into it as I am.

Why did Michael toss Erin a set of keys when he told her to close down the Cafe Disco if he had just told her that the door was always open because the lock was broken?

Yeah, and why did Phyllys assume Bob would know about that closet?
Oh... wait. Never mind.

I'm watching one of my all-time favorite episodes, Diversity Day, on TBS in HD right now on the 50" plasma and I just noticed something I never noticed before. On the race cards, you can see that the character's names are written very lightly in pencil on the blank side of the card so the actors know which card to pick up and put on their forehead. You can very clearly see Meredith's name on hers when Dwight is looking at her and says "Lots of cultures eat rice. It doesn't help me."

I was watching on lo-def tonight so I missed that, but will have to whip out the DVD's to check. I did notice for the first time that as everyone is leaving the conference room at the end that Michael gives Stanley a hug.

Michael gives Stanley a hug

I noticed that too for the first time! It's like what he thinks a black hug is. I think now I'm looking in the background on these repeats.

I think now I'm looking in the background on these repeats.

Having watched them so many times, I now watch the reactions of the other characters rather than the major focus of the scene.

Of course, there have been more mistakes in Seasons Three-Six. It's getting easier and easier every episode. But some of them make the writers look very lazy. Like in the most recent episode with a continuity error, Shareholder Meeting. Would it be that hard to make it right. Sometimes it ruins what the office is all about.
