if he didn't have The Reason to stay in Scranton.

It always seemed to me that his satisfaction and dissatisfaction with the job in S2 were due to "The Reason". Now that that isn't a problem anymore he's free to actually do a good job.

Mar 28th 2009

I just rewatched all of S2 last week.

Notice how no one rewatches S3, S4 or S5?

No, I rewatch those as well...just without as much enjoyment.

Mar 29th 2009

False. I'm in the middle of a S3 rewatch, right now. Just watched Back From Vacation yesterday morning and am hitting up disc three in a few minutes.

Mar 29th 2009

So Traveling Salesmen/The Return and then the death march?

Mar 29th 2009

I don't hate the following episodes like a lot of folks do so I'm looking forward to the rest of my rewatch.

Or leave. He was always free to do a good job but he didn't like the job or DM so he wasn't motivated to work that hard. And, of course, his boss didn't so why should he do more than he needed to as long as he could just get by? But, now, The Reason has changed. His motivation is now earning a lot of money to support a family and home (and impressing his future in-laws). A lot of people stay in jobs they don't like for those reasons. His future may depend on his job performance now but I still don't see evidence that he likes it there any better than he did.

Also, you can count me as a fan of S3, S4 and especially S5.

I always think of S2/S3 as one long "novel-for-television".

Mar 29th 2009

The second half is crap, though.

Mar 29th 2009

The second half is crap, though.

It's sort of like Godfather II and III that way.

Mar 29th 2009

Now, wait a minute! Godfather III is one thing. An enormous, steaming pile of crap. But you're honestly going to try to slam Godfather II??

Please tell me I misunderstood you!

Mar 29th 2009

No, no. Godfather II is S2 with S3 taking the Godfather III portion of my analogy.

Mar 29th 2009

Oh! OK. Good. So you're not totally out there about GF II

Just about TO S3.

Mar 29th 2009

I do.

Mar 29th 2009

I rewatched Season 3 twice, I think, but haven't rewatched any of Season 4 or 5.

Mar 30th 2009

Just rewatched, and I think that girl that plays Teri Hatcher's daughter from Desperate Housewives is an extra in this episode. The part where Michael sings "Tiny Dundie."

Yes, I used to watch Desperate Housewives. And no, I am not ashamed to admit that.

This girl standing next to the douche guy? I don't think that's her.

eta: I couldn't get a better picture but you can see her better in the iTunes vid

Mar 30th 2009

Sing it Elton!

Mar 30th 2009

Are you sure? Because she sure looks like her...

Mar 30th 2009

Because she sure looks like her...

A little, I guess. But you can tell it's not her better in this picture. Just asked Tiger and he agreed.

Mar 30th 2009

Oh, wrong again...shoot.

Jun 23rd 2009

Looks like this great ep is re-airing on TBS tonight according to my DirecTV guide. WOO!

DUNdies! DUNdies!

Jun 23rd 2009

Hey guys, your old pal Beej here. Was just reminiscing about the time I wrote an episode called "The Dundies" and then some girl called Mandy wrote her name on it and now everybody thinks she wrote their favorite episode. I am here to set the record straight: Beej wrote this episode, and every other episode you ever liked for that matter. If you didn't like it, that girl Mandy probably wrote it.

Jun 23rd 2009

Welcome back, Beej!

I've mentioned it before, but The Dundies has what I think is my second favourite moment from The Office, where Michael is getting booed and he just about quits and then the rest of the staff rally around him (led by a half in the bag Pam) and make him feel better and then he continues giving out awards. THe next award he gives out is the Fine Work award to Stanley, who says something like that last year he got the great work award, but he'll still take it because it's better than the Smelliest Bowel Movement award that Kevin had just won. It's just a really nice moment of unity and togetherness amongst the staff. A real feel-good moment. The gang are pretty tough on Michael, and rightfully so, but when it comes right down to it, they protect him and take care of him. It's a nice moment.

I am really bothered by this. Is this the real B.J.? If not, who is it? And why do they continue this charade?

edited for obvious reasons

Jun 23rd 2009

Yes, Buttlicker, it's BJ Novak. He's been dropping by NA for years now. But don't make a big deal out of it or he'll stop visiting. The same can be said for Greg Daniels and the Kool-Aid Man.

How do you know for sure?

Unless... you're really Mike Schur...?

cue the Twilight Zone theme

Jun 23rd 2009

I'm not Mike Schur. Jinx is.
