Did I what? Watch Basketball?

Yes!

Jul 17th 2008

I'm going to do both right now.

That's what she said about George Clooney & Brad Pitt.

Jul 24th 2008

OK, I'm watching...anyone else?

Anyhoo, whoa, frumpy Kelly! That blouse is terrible.

Also: Two men's rooms. I heart Dwight.

I'm watching it right now, too. I just started.

Jul 24th 2008

Already noticing the colors are brighter than S1 and Michael is skinnier and hair not as slick back.

Jul 24th 2008

Ok, I'll watch it as well, so I can be deck like y'all.

Jul 24th 2008

Yay, we're all watching it together like a new episode!

Jul 24th 2008

I'm cracking up...

  • We get Michael’s first Cosby impression.
  • The first of two times Jim says cocky. What? I notice these things.
  • In the Dundies video that Pam is watching, Michael is wearing a tshirt tux and in this year’s Dundies, he upgrades to an actual tux.
  • We get our second reference to Mambo #5 and our first sighting of Dwight’s recorder. A little bit of Paaam all night long. A little bit of Angela on the thing. A little bit of Phyllis everywhere. A little bit of Roooy, eating chicken crispers. A little bit of Jim with some ribs…I love Michael.
Jul 24th 2008

Pam mentions that Kevin sat in front of the camcorder the whole night. I didn't see anyone recording this year's Dundies. Is that because the documentarians are recording it. Don't you think Michael would want his own copy?

Jul 24th 2008

Kelly/Mindy looks cuter with her bob.

Jul 24th 2008

I had to pause, so I'm a little behind...

Dwight: "Welcome to the eighth annual Dundies Awards!"

Good Lord, eight years of this? Those poor Dunder Mifflinites.

Jul 24th 2008

I wonder if Pam was excited when she went to her first Dundies? I wonder if that excitement survived the first drink?

  • Are we going to get to see the 09/09/09 party next year? One of the newsletters mentioned the 07/07/07 party last summer. It was a 777 theme and Michael made them watch Airplane.
  • Roy is such an ass. He totally doesn’t see that theLongest Engagement Award bothers Pam and he plays along.
  • Why does Dwight get all excited that they can bring guests yet he doesn’t bring anyone?
  • I love the notecards Michael uses when singing “Down with the Dundies”. I think it’s funnier when you know that Steve actually needed them to remember the words.
  • Yup, the “Oh Yeah” still cracks me up. I wish I had an “Oh Yeah” button I can carry around with me and use for situation such as that one.
  • When, oh, when will we get to see Ping again? Please, Greg bring him back.
  • Pam is just too adorable in this episode…And thus my girl crush began.
  • Those guys at the bar are jerks. Really? Throwing stuff? How old are they? A-holes.
  • I think this is one of the very few times we get to see Toby smile.
  • Jim deserves a Dundie for showing a million emotions in his face after that kiss.
  • It’s funny how Michael keeps singing after Pam false off her chair.
  • Dwight looks so accomplished when Michael tells him he did a good job.
  • What was Pam’s question???

This episode just gives me all kinds of warm fuzzies, especially at the end when Tiny Dancer plays and Jim watches Pam drive away.

Jul 24th 2008

If we're going to get Ping again, I want the cringing Asian girl behind him. It makes Ping much more pingy.

Jul 24th 2008

“Does it have to do with his butt or his wiener?”

“Oh good, Phyllis is going to the bathroom, so maybe I get to see her naked from the waist down.” Kills me every time I see this.

Jul 24th 2008 edited

Michael's hair looks so much better than in S1.

lemon*, I notice stuff like that too....wink wink. Love the way he delivers the "cocky" line.

The Skillet of Cheese. Ack.

Love the way Dwight covertly goes into the ladies bathroom, and then how Phyllis chases him out whilst ripping him a new one.

"We'll see you again next year". Ugh. He's such an oaf.

I love the true excitement Michael feels about the Dundies.

Dwight: "Like an Aids test?"

Drunk Pam. Falling off the chair Pam.

The absolute relief and joy she feels for not getting the longest engagement dundie again, and her speech. The kiss. sigh

"I'm sorry, you're gonna have to put your clothes back on, people are trying to eat."

I never hear Tiny Dancer now, and not think of this episode, and the look on Jim's face as he's walking back to his car.

edited because I can't get the stupid bullet thing to work. Wah.

Jul 24th 2008

I never hear Tiny Dancer now, and not think of this episode, and the look on Jim's face as he's walking back to his car.

Same here. It brings a smile to my face whenever I hear it.

Jul 24th 2008

Why does Dwight get all excited that they can bring guests yet he doesn’t bring anyone?

I wondered the same thing. I think he was just sucking up. Totally OOC, I know, but call me perceptive.

Jul 24th 2008

This episode just gives me all kinds of warm fuzzies, especially at the end when Tiny Dancer plays and Jim watches Pam drive away.

And...

I never hear Tiny Dancer now, and not think of this episode, and the look on Jim's face as he's walking back to his car.

Yes, and yes. Oh, Jim.

Jul 24th 2008

I love the true excitement Michael feels about the Dundies.

I love that, too. He means well and like Jim says, he actually thinks those awards are inspiring and motivational. He wants to do this for his employees, but he's just going about it the wrong way.

Jul 24th 2008

Yup, the “Oh Yeah” still cracks me up. I wish I had an “Oh Yeah” button I can carry around with me and use for situation such as that one.

Me too.

I love this episode.
Some thoughts:
Michael's just so racist, and it is hilarious.
Kevin really bore the brunt in this episode: Michael says no one's giving him an award except for Dunkin Donuts, accused of eating the skillet of cheese, him sitting in front of the camera all night, getting the smelliest bowel movement award, and, in the deleted scenes, almost getting the Fat Accountant award.
I love this suicide due to lack of recognition TH.
Dwight's guess of "Dave Barry" is perfect: it's entirely random, but yet it fits with Dwight.
Terri (you know, that white woman Stanley is married to?) seemed really touched that Stanley won the Fine Work award. That was a sweet moment.
And, sure, lem, those guys were juvenile, but they're also geniuses . . . they told a "your mom" joke.
Also, I was wondering about the question too--I think it would be Pam asking Jim if he talked to Michael about the Longest Engagement Dundie, don't you think?

Jul 24th 2008

Terri (you know, that white woman Stanley is married to?)

What? She's white?

And, sure, lem, those guys were juvenile, but they're also geniuses . . . they told a "your mom" joke.

Yes, they get a gold star for using the "your mom" joke but I give them a negative two thumbs up for throwing something at Michael.

Jul 24th 2008

Also, I was wondering about the question too--I think it would be Pam asking Jim if he talked to Michael about the Longest Engagement Dundie, don't you think?

I don't know. That's probably what she was going to ask but why would she hold back asking him that after she saw the camera? Why did she hold back?

Jul 24th 2008 edited

What? She's white?

Is she not? Am I collar blind? I thought that was the joke, unless your post was a joke, in which case I feel dumb, which is a common feeling.

Jul 24th 2008

For some reason, I've always thought it had something to do with their kiss ("I really meant it when I kissed you" or "I wasn't that drunk and I knew what I was doing" or "Is it OK that I kissed you?" or something like that).

Jul 24th 2008

What? She's white?

Is she not? Am I collar blind? I thought that was the joke, unless your post was a joke, in which case I feel dumb, which is a common feeling.

It was a joke...a bad one, but still a joke.

Jul 24th 2008 edited

The kiss would certainly be a more logically off-camera topic to broach. Heck, I don't know.

It was a joke...a bad one, but still a joke.

That's what I thought, but I just wanted to make sure.

Also, Kelli's TH about Toby was great, and showed an inkling of where they were taking her character.

Jul 24th 2008

She was going to ask him, "Do you think I should be with you tonight instead of Roy?"

At least, that's what she asks in my fantasy world.

Jul 24th 2008

I love this suicide due to lack of recognition TH.

I wonder if Tom never got a Dundie.

I think the question was about the award but motivated by the kiss, hence the camera-shyness.

Jul 24th 2008 edited

The first of two times Jim says cocky. What? I notice these things.

Because of the trivia game, I notice those things too.

Are we going to get to see the 09/09/09 party next year?

What about 08/08/08?

Why does Dwight get all excited that they can bring guests yet he doesn’t bring anyone?

He wrote letters to the women of Enron but none of them wrote back.

  • Michael wanting everyone drunk so they'll think his jokes are funny. "That's why comedy clubs have two-drink minimums."

  • Jim's noble act saving Pam's night by talking to Michael about the "Longest Engagement Award" and she never knew.

  • Kevin's TH sounded more like Brian B. than current Kevin.

  • Michael getting emotional when he tells everyone "The Dundies are about the best in all of us, don't you see that?"

  • Michael telling Jim he's not giving Dwight an award and Jim laughing and saying "OK".

  • Dwight ruining Michaels' HR joke by being so literal: "There are no women in HR." "She had me fill out six hours of paperwork." "Like an AIDS test?"

  • I love that Mindy wrote the episode so she made Ryan (BJ) the "hottest" and gave Michael a man crush on him.

  • Michael thinks he's a real performing comedian.

  • Dwight turning the accountant's PC's off in the middle of them entering data.

  • Kelly thinking Toby is cute, except for that stupid kid.

  • Dwight telling Phyllis there was nothing wrong with seeing her nude from the waist down because he's not attracted to her. "Creepsville Central".

  • Tsunami Funraiser.

  • Jim & Pam's dual TH. So natural and cute.

  • John K's favorite kiss.

  • Jim was still sort of shy around Pam. Nice touch.

I fell in love with everything Jim Halpert chooses to be during The Dundies.

I've been Urkled.

How keen.
